Veteran Free Agent Eric Decker Worked out for the Patriots

Pats Work Out Decker

Yesterday, the Patriots brought in veteran wide receiver Eric Decker for a visit.

Decker was notably a part of the record-breaking 2013 Broncos offense. Since then, he has played for the Jets and Titans. Most recently, he recorded 54 catches for 563 yards and a touchdown in a short stint in Tennessee.

Eric played under McDaniels in 2010 when he was head coach of the Broncos. Recently, Decker expressed interest in becoming a Patriot in a recent interview with Sirius XM radio.

“I think the Patriots would be a good fit and being drafted by Josh McDaniels in Denver,” he said. “I talked with New England last year during the free agency process in June. That is always an option that I would definitely love to entertain.” (Bleacher Report)

Decker would be providing serious help to an injury-filled wide receiver corp. Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt, and Jordan Matthews are all banged up. Because of Edelman’s suspension, signing him certainly isn’t out of the question.

If Decker has a good training camp, don’t be surprised if he starts opposite of Chris Hogan with Phillip Dorsett manning the slot.
