Golden State Warriors have been handed a major blow to their team as their prolific shooting guard Klay Thompson will be staying on the sidelines for a second consecutive season due to the injury he succumbed to, according to ESPN.

The 30-year-old guard was ruled out for the whole of last season after being sidelined due to an ACL injury he acquired during the 2019 NBA Finals. But his last season injury had nothing to do with it his latest as he was reported to have suffered another injury in a practice session in Los Angeles on Wednesday, this injury was later confirmed to be a torn Achilles, and this is not an easy injury to recover from with several casino online having voiced their opinions on this matter.

However, according to ESPN, the new injury is not as career-threatening as we thought it could be for the 30-year-old guard.

If Thompson happens to miss the whole of the new season, that means he has gone with a basketball game for two consecutive seasons when he returns for the 2021-22 campaign. This will be heartbreaking for him, his team, and their supporters, who have been hoping to see him return to the NBA since his first injury.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday night about Thompson’s injury, Warriors general manager Bob Myers said: “It’s one of those deals where you don’t really know until you know. You can be hopeful, you can be concerned. I’m probably all those combined, and until we know more tomorrow, I’ll just hope for good news.”

“I can’t sit here and say I feel good,” Myers continued. “I have confidence in our players. I have confidence in our coaches. I have confidence in our ownership. We’re going to keep moving. We’re never going to stop. But to be truthful, it hurts. It hurts me and I know it hurts our organization.”

Thompson, who is often regarded as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, is a five-time All-Star and while playing alongside his trusted teammate Steph Curry they have secured three NBA titles with the Warriors team from 2015 to 2018.

He is no rookie when it comes to winning trophies, as he won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2016 Olympics, which many new online casinos placed their eyes on.

Playing without their prolific star last season saw a huge drop in form for the Warriors with Curry also being on the sidelines while Kevin Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets.

Having established himself in the NBA, Thompson is majorly known for his ability to shoot and his strong defense. His absence in the team cannot easily be filled.

On Wednesday, the Warriors got the 2nd overall pick in the NBA Draft and picked James Wiseman.
