Covid-19 has had a tremendous effect on the world. After World War 2, nothing like this scale has ever happened, which significantly disrupted the normal way of life. Not only it impacted the operation of markets and economies, but major sporting leagues and events have been canceled as well.

Besides canceling or postponing events, a lot of prominent faces have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. Tom Hanks, Kevin Durant, Boris Johnson is only a small list of people, who tested positive. The Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was also diagnosed with Covid-19 on Saturday, and this article will discuss that news.

Smart among several NBA players to be diagnosed with the virus

On March 19, Smart posted a video on Twitter, where he announced to be tested positive for coronavirus. Even though he declared that he was not feeling any serious symptoms, the positive report from doctors led him to maintain the rule of self-isolation. The American player felt nothing significant, but he had to obey the rule.

Lately the head coach of Celtics, Brad Stevens announced that Smart was feeling great and he was keeping in touch with the American.

How has the season been for the Celtics and Smart?

As you know, the NBA was halted indefinitely over the fears of Covid-19 and the United States has surpassed China with infected people. But prior to stopping the season, Smart has had really good stats.

You all probably know that the NBA is popular all over the world and especially in Canada. Besides the Toronto Raptors, Canadians also have a huge fan base supporting Boston Celtics. Moreover, online casinos in Canada are particularly choosing their bets on the Boston Celtics and Smart especially, and that is why highly trusted real money casinos started to base their promotions on the Celtics. Not only they try to appease supporters of the American team, but they also want to attract people from Canada. This is a widely approved practice, which generally works well in countries, that have a massive base of fans, that support foreign teams.

While Boston Celtics are third in the Eastern Conference with 43 wins and 21 losses the team is not threatened to be left outside playoffs(if the season continues, of course). The team lost its superstar point guard, Kyrie Irving but managed to replace him successfully with Kemba Walker.

Marcus Smart has averaged relatively good stats this season. In 53 games he amassed 13.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. It is not bad statistics at all for a player, who also helps the team a lot in defense. Throughout his career, he was basically a ‘bench-player’ who averaged decent statistics.

In 2019 he managed to be included in the NBA All-Defensive First Team. He is still young – 26 years is not considered to be a lot for a basketball player. If the season somehow continues, which seems unlikely at the present moment considering the number of infected in the United States, Smart will definitely be an integral part for the team, and the Celtics will be fighting for the championship title.
