MLB Lockout finally comes to an end as full season expected

There has finally been some good news ahead of the 2022 Major League Baseball season that Boston Red Sox fans can certainly get behind.

The lockout that we have all been experiencing has finally come to an end after an agreement had been reached by the MLB and the Players’ Association.

The agreement is over a five-year deal and will see players be able to enjoy increased minimum salaries, whilst the league’s competitive balance tax will also be increased. For those unaware of what this is, the simple way to explain it is in terms of a salary cap that is experienced in many of the other major professional sports leagues.

Whilst the deal will be good news for players and fans of the MLB, it will also be great for those who continue to look at these sites as they will be able to enjoy betting on the action once again as soon as the season starts.

When does the MLB season start?

With that in mind, there will be some that will have questions about what is next for the MLB and the 2022 season.

However, there is no real need to fear too much, as a full season is still expected to take place, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, fans will be able to see the Boston Red Sox compete in a traditionally regular 162-game season; although many will be hoping there are more as they go for the World Series this season.

The season will begin on April 7 after training camps began on March 13. A full season is possible as the league has decided to introduce double-headers that will help to make up for the games that had been canceled already because of how long the lockout had gone on.

It is the second-longest lockout to have ever been experienced by the MLB, with it having begun in December 2021, after talks had failed between the two sides, although it was the first time that labor disputes had seen games canceled since the players’ strike of 1994-95.

What are the Boston Red Sox chances of a successful season?

The Boston Red Sox managed to bounce back incredibly from a year before last season and showed everyone what they could truly do when they are on the baseball field.

If you cast your mind back to the 2020 season, you might remember that the franchise had finished with the fourth-worst record (24-36) in the MLB that year. Fast forward 12 months and the team managed to turn things around incredibly.

The Red Sox managed to record 92-70 in the MLB last season, which helped take them all the way to the ALCS game, where they would end up losing to the Houston Astros in the penultimate game before the World Series.

But is the World Series on the cards this season? There is perhaps some debate around the team regarding their chances of reaching that game, with a number of questions still being asked about the organization across a number of different key areas.

What we do know, though, is that there should be plenty of excitement on the field when the MLB 2022 season finally gets underway!
