The earlier you place a bet on a team to win the season, the better your odds will be.
As more games are played both gamblers and sportsbooks start to get a better idea of who is playing well and looks likely to win the season. The later you leave placing your bet, the less money you are likely to win.
We have put together this article to help you find a champion before too many games get played this season. You can check out Fanduel’s NFL picks for a look at their current odds.
Kansas City Chiefs
All the leading sportsbooks have the Chiefs to take the Super Bowl this year. Only the next team on this list even comes close to their odds of winning.
The Chiefs were champions in 2019 and they played in the Super Bowl in 2020 too. They’re not off to a great start this season, but it’s still early days and they have 3+ years of incredible results to fall back on.
Patrick Mahomes, their quarterback, has been making a big splash in the NFL since he joined in 2017 and has been very open about his plans to win another Super Bowl.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We have to talk about last year’s champions, of course. The Bucs were the first team ever to play for the Super Bowl in their home stadium – the first in 52 years of the competition. It was their first win in 20 years and their first playoff qualification in 13 years.
The Bucs made it into the playoff last year via a wildcard but that didn’t stop them. With Tom Brady as their quarterback, anything really is possible for this team. Brady has been open about wanting an 8th title.
New England Patriots
Considering their performance over the last 20 years, it would be rude not to put the Patriots on this list. It is that legacy that has many of the sportsbooks suggesting that the Patriots might have a good season.
However, are they still the same team they used to be? Only time will tell. They have lost their best player to the Bucs but they still have their 10-time Super Bowl winning coach. Last year they finished third in their division and didn’t even make the playoffs.
We will be very interested to see how the team performs in the 2020-21 season.
Green Bay Packers
The sportsbooks are giving good odds on the Packers taking home the Super Bowl this year. Is this a surprise?
They won their division last year and had a solid start to this season. They also made it all the way to the NFC championship finals last year.
They also have Aaron Rodgers on their side. Rodgers was named NFL MVP last season and was the NFL touchdown leader. If Brady hadn’t won his 7th Super Bowl, we would all be talking about Rodgers no-stop right now.
As we said with the Bucc, when a team has a great quarterback, there is nothing to stop them from winning the Super Bowl.
Buffalo Bills
Coming in at number 5 are the Buffalo Bills. The Bills ended last season with an 81% win rate (13-3) and both their home (7-1) and away (6-2) records were strong. They comfortably won their division last year and have an excellent chance of making it into the AFC side of the playoffs this year too.
They have some incredible players in their roster – including Stefon Diggs and Christian Wade.
This team is one to watch.
