You’ve been a die-hard fan of the Red Sox for as long as you can remember – it runs in the family.

When you met your better half, you knew that she had to be a Red Sox fan too. Luckily, she was – and she’s gone to every game with you when they’ve played their home games at Fenway Park ever since.

What better way to propose to her, then, than at Boston’s best-known baseball park? You’ve got the most beautiful diamond ring picked out – now all you need to do is plan the proposal. Let’s take a look at how to pull off the most amazing marriage proposal at Fenway Park.

1.     Getting Started

There are a few things you need to know about proposing at Fenway Park.

The first is that the team at Fenway only ever let one proposal take place per game, and they let this happen at the same time every game – at the end of the 5th inning.

For all games and dates, it’s a first come first serve system, so if you had one specific date in mind, it’s important to plan ahead.

2.     Scoreboard Proposal

There are two different ways that you can propose to your better half at Fenway. The first way is the most common, and it uses the scoreboard.

The proposal will appear on the scoreboard at the end of the 5th inning. Because it is going to appear on the scoreboard in the right field, you will need to be seated where your better half can see this board clearly.

The regular scoreboard proposal requires a donation to Fenway Park, and the minimum amount you need to donate is $250.

We recommend this way if you and your partner like being a small amount of attention but don’t want to be in the spotlight completely.

3.     Live Proposal

The second way that you can propose to your partner at Fenway Park is a live proposal. The park will disguise this plan within a ceremony that they call Fans of the Game.

At the start of the 4th inning, you will meet with an ambassador of Fenway at Gate B. Because this way doesn’t require you to be in your seat, it doesn’t matter where you’re sitting.

When you meet with the ambassador, you will hand them over a certificate that you were received through email. A trivia question will qualify you as a Fan of the Game, which is a decoy so that your partner doesn’t catch on.

Once you’ve had this exchange, you and your partner will be taken to the roof deck where you will be able to propose.

As well as a goodie bag for both proposals, you will also receive a video through email. A live proposal requires a minimum donation of $350.
