Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, but chemistry with his teammates and coaching staff were a big part of that, and that’s a benefit he won’t have heading into 2020.
Brady, by way of his own decision, chose to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency, rather than sticking around with the Patriots, where he began his career 20 years ago, in Sports Betting Philippines. It was a decision that was criticized by many, as Brady may have been prioritizing lifestyle and marketing over his chance to win, as he had won six Super Bowl rings teaming up with head coach Bill Belichick. Ego may have been a bit of a factor, as Brady may look to prove that he can win a title without the help of arguably the greatest head coach of all time
Whatever the reason, Brady is now tasked with learning a new offense for the first time in his career, and it didn’t go well for others in the past, even those with pedigrees as impressive as his, such as Joe Montana, when he left the 49ers for the Chiefs at the end of his career. He himself even advised Brady not to leave the Patriots, as fully grasping a new offense and getting on the same page with a coaching staff can take at least one year, if not two.
And now Brady is attempting to do exactly that — during a shortened offseason, with a lot of virtual communication, no less. There were no OTAs this year, as the Live Esports Calendar shows, and there have been no gathering in meeting rooms at a team’s facility. Furthermore, training camp may not take place until August, with only two preseason games, if not less.
That’s why we believe that Brady made a huge mistake in leaving New England. He knew what he was getting into with entering a new environment, and the issues presented by the coronavirus are nothing new, is we’ve been aware of it since February. It’s possible that Brady had already made up his mind as it relates to his free agency decision, but he still had time to walk it back and sign with the Patriots, if need be. But he didn’t, and now he must face the biggest challenge of his career. Time will tell regarding how it works out for him, but it could go down as a huge mistake, once it’s all said and done.
