Shaquem Griffin’s NFL Origins

The stage was set; the crowd had been alerted of his impending arrival; boxes of Seahawks hats were waiting for him and his family members, Backed up on by he’d brought with him for the biggest weekend of his life. There was one last reminder, from one NFL staffer: “Make sure his brother is right next to him.” According to BetNow sportsbook

Shaquem and his twin brother, Shaquill, were born back to back in June 1995. They chose to attend the University of Central Florida because it met the most important criteria—the football team wanted both brothers. Always they were as, Shaquill says, a package deal.

One year earlier, Shaquill, had been drafted by the Seahawks with the 90th pick, in the third round. The 2017 season was the first one they had spent apart, Shaquill starting 11 games for the Seahawks. Living miles away from one another prepared them for what they thought was the inevitability of playing on different NFL teams.

“I continued to tell him,” Shaquil said, “it was a one percent chance that this could actually happen.”

Soon his music began playing—Drake’s “Do Not Disturb”—and it was time for Shaquem Griffin to take his much-awaited walk across the stage in front of a roaring crowd. He took a deep breath, patted his heart and looked over at his brother, who was standing right next to him.

Family, friends, and Seattle fans are looking forward to the 2018 NFL Season.

Which NFC Team is Best Positioned to Go To the Super Bowl?

Week 17 of the NFL season is upon us. While the AFC appears to be a two-team contest between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFC playoffs are poised to be full of surprises. At the moment five of the six NFC playoff teams have been confirmed. The last spot will be a toss up between the Falcons and the Seahawks. If Atlanta manages to beat the Panthers, or if Seattle loses, then the defending NFC champions will claim the sixth and final spot. If the Falcons lose and the Seahawks beat the Cardinals, then Seattle will get the 6th seed.

The other five teams will be the Eagles, Vikings, Saints, Panthers, and Rams. Philadelphia and Minnesota are locked into the #1 and #2 seeds, respectively. Slots 3-5 will be determined by the outcomes of Week 17. Both the Saints and Panthers are in the running for the NFC South title. If the Saints beat the Bucs, then New Orleans will claim the #3 seed. If the Saints lose and the Panthers beat the Falcons, then Carolina will be the NFC South champions. If both teams lose, then New Orleans will take the divison by default. However, in doing so, they will gift the NFC’s #3 seed to the Rams and fall to the #4 slot. Currently, the only way for the Rams to escape the #4 seed would be for both New Orleans and Carolina to lose.

So with all the logistics out of the way, which team from the NFC will make their way to Super Bowl LII in Minnesota? Many betting sites like Centrebet for example can show you the odds for each team, but here are my opinions. Let’s start by removing Atlanta and Seattle from the equation. Regardless of which team makes the post-season, neither have demonstrated that they are capable of winning three straight games on the road. I would also cross the Philadelphia Eagles off the list. Even as the #1 seed, the Eagles are in the dangerous position of having lost their quarterback. Without Carson Wentz, I have severe doubts that the Eagles will win both of the games required to win the conference title.

New Orleans is an interesting pick. If they wrap up their division, they could theoretically play all of their games in a dome. First, they would host either Atlanta or Seattle at home, then go indoors to Minnesota the following week. If the Eagles fall in their first playoff game, then the Saints would return to New Orleans for the NFC Championship before returing to Minnesota once more for the Super Bowl.

Carolina is another interesting possibility. If they can grab the #3 seed, you have to like their chances. None of the other NFC contenders has any real playoff experience. However, Carolina has been to the Super Bowl just two years ago. Cam Newton may be able to capitalize on this and win the tough games on the road that the Panthers will need to return to the big game.

Finally, we have the Vikings, who are my pick to represent the NFC. It’s possible that they may play three straight games in US Bank Stadium, hosting the divisional round game, the NFC Championship if Philadelphia stumbles, and then the Super Bowl. If the Vikings win the NFC, they will have the distinction of being the first team to play at home in the Super Bowl. Perhaps this is the boost they need to right their 0-4 record in the Super Bowl and claim their first title.

Writer’s block: Important tips against writing inhibitions

Who writes stays. A certainly true saying. But also one who cleverly overlooks that writing is not always just a pleasure. To have written, yes, that is enjoyment, relief, edification. But still having to write can be a miserable torture. The blank paper, the blank screen are like sneers that slander every word imagined, every sentence approach and dismiss them from presumptuous bouncers on principle: “You can’t get in here!” Writers call this writer’s block. Nevertheless, everyone knows them: students before the next essay, students before the housework, project managers before the report, speakers before the presentation, journalists in front of the article, bloggers, authors, poets, even the authors of love letters. To put it in a nutshell: writer’s blockades are like herpes – the infection can never be completely cured. But sometimes the symptoms can be alleviated…

What is a writer’s block and how does it come about?

Anyone who has to deal with words in his job has ever stared at blank pages and did not know what to do next. Most describe this phenomenon as an inability or difficulty to put their thoughts into words and write them down. Thoughts float here and there, but goal-oriented and structured thinking is difficult.

What is the inability to write?

Just as each writer writes differently, the writer’s block also manifests itself in different ways. Some struggle with the right entry, others struggle with every word. And still others do not make a single sentence. Also, physical symptoms, such as restlessness, headache and nausea can occur. Most then go to clean up the apartment, clean, laundry or the like. Psychologists speak of avoidance actions.

Why do we get a writer’s block?

Often the writer’s block comes quite suddenly. And one wonders: Why is this happening to me right now? There are two possible reasons for this:
1. The psychological reasons: The fear of failure may be behind the write inhibition. There are so much pressures to deliver a good result that you censor yourself during the writing process. Can I write this like this? Will that please my readers, my boss or a professor? Often it is negative experiences that inhibit one. The last texts were panned. The criticism is so deep that you can’t get rid of it.
2. The substantive reasons: Actually, you have all the information in front of you and would only need to arrange it. But that’s exactly where the problem lies. The mountain of information is so overwhelming that you do not even know where to start. The inability to make connections and organize the information leads to the inability to write. But the opposite, the lack of information, is inhibiting. You just do not know what to write because you hardly know anything about the subject. In this case you need to visit essaytwist.com.

Time pressure releases writer’s block

Robert Boice, a psychologist at the University of New York in Albany, examined the problem. Boice made an experiment with 27 academics who suffered from a writer’s block and looked for ways to solve their writing inhibition. For ten weeks. Anyone who was allowed to write spontaneously, that is, when he was motivated to do so, showed moderate creativity at best. Other than those who were constantly pushed to it: they were the most productive.

Kyrie Irving

Celtics Still in the Game

It looked the Boston Celtics’ plans for the NBA Finals came crashing down when Gordon Hayward fractured his tibia and ankle in the regular season-opener game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. But this is not necessarily so!  For those who enjoy the kind of online betting NZ and the rest of the world offers, the Celtics remain viable.

The Celtics are Very Deep

The amazing trade that the Celtics made with the Brooklyn Nets comes into play. Everyone scratched their heads.   What id Danny Ainge do?  He hung on to the players drafted thanks to the high picks instead of cashing them in for a superstar. This was before the trade for Kyrie Irving, which didn’t cost him a superstar.  Now Celtic fans rejoice at his foresight.

The third overall 2016 pick, Jaylen Brown, stepped up confidently on Tuesday evening,  going on to pour 25 points on 23 shots. Jayson Tatum, whom the Celtics took after trading down in the 2017 draft, had a total of 14 points in his debut for the NBA.  And Marcus Morris, the experienced forward absent on Tuesday, will take a big offensive role  when he returns.

The Celtics’ Near Win Against the Cavaliers

At the half-time, the Celtics were down 54 – 38, with the team still reeling after the injury Hayward had suffered. Then 33 points in the third quarter got them right back into play before they fell by just three. This, in the context of one of their star players being grievously hurt, is more than understandable.  The team proved their resilience in this game, despite not having a home ground advantage either.

Stevens is a Super Coach

Brad Stevens’ response to the media regarding what he had told his team at half-time pretty much sums it up. He said that he had no magical words for what had happened.   He understood that all of them were hurting for Hayward.

He added that he at no point tried to remove the human element from what had occurred, and he simply related to them as human beings. With this kind of compassion added to his basketball know-how, this team has the perfect coach to see them through this very unfortunate accident.

Making the Most of Bonus Bets

So you want to get more money from those bonus offers? Sure, that is a possibility, but you have to play smartly. Bookmaking is a competitive industry, and so many online exchanges often offer bonus bets and other promotions when you sign up with them for the first time. Obviously, they do it to attract you, but how can you ensure that you utilise all of these, and actually make some real money? Read on to find out.

The Simple Strategy

The most basic strategy in the book is to place bonus bets at fairly low odds, around $1.50 or even lower. And yes, you can split this across multiple bets. Now each individual bet is associated with a certain winning percentage. And since you spilt up all the money, the overall return will be somewhat less impacted if you lose the individual bets.

Assume that you were offered $500 as a bonus. Now you can split this into 20 equal bets, each at an odd of $1.50. At 65% return chances, you can expect to win 13 of these. Factoring in the margin for your bookmaker, the expected money earned would be somewhat around 25 x (1.50 – 1.00) x 13, which turns out to be $162.5.

So what are advantages do you get from bonus bets offers of such an approach? Well, it’s pretty simple to get, and you earn a predicted amount. But you can’t ignore the fact that the overall expected return is still low. Let’s try something else to increase this as well.

The Half Money Hedge Approach

If you use this approach, you choose even money and 2 outcome bets, but you place all of the money on only one of these. As for the 2nd outcome, you place half stakes on it, but with another bookmaker. A bet of this sort is often referred to as a matched bet. Try to get the best odds from both bookmakers when you use this approach.

The strategy almost always guarantees that you will win a fixed amount that doesn’t depend on the outcome. Plus, it is a really simple to execute, but you should have accounts with at least two bookmakers. Also be careful about a couple of things such as picking genuine two horses races, avoiding markets where you could lose one of the bets, and not placing the matched bet with the same bookmaker.

Let’s consider an example: you come across an even money bet, a line bet to be precise, which pays $1.92. Now you place a bet on $500 worth of bonus money with bookmaker A, and then match using real money, worth of $250, with Bookmaker B; this would be on the opposite outcome. Assuming your bonus bet wins, you earn $460 real money, and if the real money bet wins, then you get $480. The average return is thus, around $470. So in both cases, you do make some profits on $250 outlay.

There are obviously some other approaches as well, but they are more complicated than the ones highlighted here.

Could the Patriots sign Garoppolo to a long-term deal?

Would Jimmy Garoppolo sign an extension with the New England Patriots?

Talk about a curve most wouldn’t expect—but then again, is it really so crazy given the seemingly endless rich-get-richer vibe around the Patriots?

Maybe not. And Garoppolo didn’t exactly slam the door shut on the idea in a recent interview, according to NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling:

“I’ll entertain any possibility,” Garoppolo explained. “I’m not really thinking about it too much right now. There’s just so much going on with OTAs and training camp right around the corner. That’s where my focus is. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there, I guess.”

He didn’t stop there, then extending praise to those around him and his overall situation:

“I love it (here),” Garoppolo said. “It’s a very fortunate situation to come into a place and get drafted here. They’re good people all around the building, from support staff to the lunch ladies and everything. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s just a good group of people and it rubs off on each other.”

That doesn’t sound like a guy who necessarily wants to leave any time soon. And Garoppolo knows how good he has it—Tom Brady will retire sooner or later and the job will be his in what should be a rather smooth transition, based on his learning for years and strong play a year ago. If any of this is true, then picking up Jimmy G in a keeper league could be one of the best Fantasy Football tips.

The problem is money. Garoppolo is in a position to demand huge cash despite his backup role because teams would easily sign him for starter money on the market. If the Patriots want an assurance he’ll be around when Brady decides to retire, they’ll likely have to offer the same amount despite his not taking a snap.

So yes, Garoppolo certainly sounds open to the idea of an extension. The question now remains for the Patriots as to whether or not they actually want to move forward with signing him to a long-term deal. Tom Brady shows no signs of decline even though he is over 40 years of age. Does it make sense for the Patriots to lock up so much money at one position, even if quarterback is the most important position in the entire NFL? Think of the team that they could potential put together around Brady if they took the money that Garoppolo will command and used it to bolster other areas of the team like the receiving corps or offensive line. Only one quaterback can play at a time, so the Patriots would have millions of dollars of salary tied up on the sideline if Garoppolo was being paid as the league’s most expensive backup. At the same time, you can never have too much insurance against injury. Tom Brady won’t be able to play forever and having the security of a proven entity like Garoppolo on the sideline will make Patriots fans rest easier if TB12 ever goes down with an injury. These are just some of the many questions facing the New England Patriots and only Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft will be able to answer them.

REX RYAN EXPLAINS BILLS VS. PATRIOTS PREGAME SKIRMISH

The Buffalo Bills took care of business against the New England Patriots back in Week 4, 16-0, but the attention went to an altercation between the two sides before kickoff.

Buffalo coach Rex Ryan says his players reacted to the Bills walking through their portion of the field during warmups, a violation of an unwritten rule.

The explanation, via ESPN’s Mike Rodak:

I mean, you got your spot on the field where you’re supposed to be, and that’s just the way it is. It’s always been that way for the 20 years I’ve been in the league and much longer than that. But trust me, it’s no big deal. I’ve never thought one second of it. It’s about the game, and that’s all that matters.

This supposed act of intimidation mostly came via inexperienced New England quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who got shoved around to start the skirmish:

Prescott Rossi@PrescottRossi

Here’s a better quality video of the and shoving match from earlier. Robert Blanton starts it by shoving Jacoby Brissett.

A childish littler altercation either way, no matter what side of the fence one decides to believe, and something unlikely to affect NFL online betting.

The Bills and Patriots have a rematch this weekend, a game that will feature Tom Brady this time. That deserves the attention, but rest assured more will go to warmups and where players stand or walk according to these unwritten rules.

REPORT: DION LEWIS BACK AT PRACTICE AFTER STARTING SEASON ON PUP LIST

As if having the sixth-rated rushing offense wasn’t enough, the New England Patriots are getting Dion Lewis back.

The fifth-year running back returned to practice on Thursday after starting the season on the physically unable to perform list. He tore his left ACL last November, but needed a second knee surgery this August. His return could have a major impact on wagers placed on the Patriots this season as Lewis poses a major offensive threat. His impact on how fans bet on NFL will likely be signficant.

The Patriots have 21 days to activate Lewis to the active roster, or he will revert back to injured reserve.

With a bye week following the game at Buffalo on Sunday, Lewis in all likelihood would return before the team’s road game against San Francisco on Nov. 20.

Lewis had 622 yards from scrimmage and four total touchdowns last season.

TOM BRADY WON’T COACH FOOTBALL AFTER HE RETIRES

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a high football IQ, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he plans to coach in the future.

The 39-year-old has probably begun thinking about life after football, but it sure doesn’t look like coaching is in that plan.

Brady spoke to the media on Wednesday, and revealed that it’s not for him, via Zack Cox of NESN.

Zack Cox

@ZackCoxNESN

In a conference call with Bills media, Brady said he never wants to be a coach: “No, certainly not.”

Coach Brady has a nice ring to it, but it doesn’t appear as if it’s going to happen. Maybe he’ll be willing to offer some betting tips instead of coaching pointers, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
