Gronkowski Will Be At Training Camp (@steveA1127)

Training Camp Begins Next Thursday

Training Camp begins next week and Rob Gronkowski will be reporting on time according to ESPN. First of all, as long as Tom Brady is playing quarterback, Gronk will be looking for his passes.   There really wasn’t a question that Brady would be back this season. The retirement rumors and his contract issues about money were true. However, he needed to think about his future and hold tight for Brady’s so-called decision. After the dirt-bike press conference nonsense, he had a meeting with Belichick where Belichick gave him an ultimatum. Gronkowski then got his act together and posted a video that he was getting ready for the 2018 season.

It’s not known if Gronkowski got a new contract or not. He’s set to make $9 million dollars this season. For comparison, Jimmy Graham tops the NFL tight-end salary list,  making around $10 million. Gronkowski has complained about his contract throughout the off season, alluding to his worth. Without a contract for Rob Gronkowski, when Brady retires after the 2019 season the star tight end will either play for another team or retire himself.

Gronkowski Will Be Playing As Long As Tom Brady Is The Quarterback

  Via USA Today

Gronkowski deserves a pay raise making him the highest paid tight end in the NFL. He’s probably the greatest tight end to ever play the position. With next Thursday’s training camp start, the vacation will be over and football season will be right around the corner. It will be interesting to see how Gronkowski interacts with Belichick on the field. Keep in mind that Gronkowski is a TB12 client, so he’ll be getting treatment there too to optimize his fitness.

This isn’t fake news:  Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal reported that a trade for Gronkowski was possible, according to an AFC e

xecutive. But with Gronkowski be committed to the 2018 NFL season it’s clear he’s playing for Tom Brady, Robert Kraft, and the fans.

Grading Alex Cora In The First Half Of The Season (@stevea1127)

Alex Cora Has The Attention Of His Players

The 68-win Boston Red Sox are going into the All-Star break with the best record in baseball. Most of the credit goes to the manager, Alex Cora. The former second baseman comes into his first year managing the Red Sox and has complete control of the clubhouse, despite the injuries that continue to stack up. The Red Sox have virtually the same team as last year, but the difference is so obviously the manager. John Farrell wasn’t connecting to his players like Alex Cora is right now. Cora has complete control of this team for the first half of the season and his players clearly respond to his managing style.

Red Sox Real Test Is In The Second Half Of The Season

Via MLB.com

Many people argue that the Red Sox haven’t played any real talent thus far. However, Cora has been the difference, and if they are able to fix the bullpen and maybe add an arm at the deadline, they should be well suited to compete with elite MLB talent down the stretch.

Cora is well liked by his players because he tells them everything before he tells the media. If something is wrong and he tells the media, Cora has already brought the issue up with that specific player. This managing style is in stark contrast with that of John Farrell, who didn’t have good communication with the media or his players.

Cora said last week that the All-Star break is needed and always comes at the right time. He also said it would be good to have the bullpen get some rest as well. Within the past few years, there seems to be lots of confidence with this team heading into the All-Star break. It’s well known that the second half isn’t as easy as the first half of the season. The Red Sox play the Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and the Houston Astros quite a bit down the stretch.

And The Final Grade Is…

September will be a tight race to the finish and a really big test for Alex Cora. It’s unlikely that they’ll have an epic collapse like in 2011, but it will a rollercoaster ride nonetheless. As we head into the All-Star break, Alex Cora deserves an “A” for the first half of the season not only because of the record but because he has the attention of his players and that’s of the utmost importance.

The Boston Red Sox At 60+ Wins (@steveA1127)

It’s Been a Boring Baseball Season

This baseball season has been boring in terms of competition. The Boston Red Sox are currently 63 -29 and have the best record in baseball. Boston has been killing bad teams, which is great. However, the Red Sox are 12-11 against playoff teams. They are 4-5 against the New York Yankees and 2-2 against the Houston Astros. Are these 63 wins a joke? No, but questions can be raised about if they can beat the Yankees in the playoffs.

The Red Sox Are Crushing the Bad Competition

The Red Sox are 6-0 against the Los Angeles Angels this season. This past weekend they killed the Kansas City Royals, who are 39 games under .500. The Red Sox started a series with the Texas Rangers, who are 40-52 and in last place in the American League West. The Red Sox won last night 5-0 in a very easy win for them. They will probably sweep the Rangers. Let’s see how they do in the second half of the season. They still have to play the Yankees two more times and, they also play Cleveland twice in the second half.

David Price Will Never Change

David Price also will never live up to the hype and be able to survive being in Boston. He was and is a complete waste of a roster spot and can’t even pitch against the Kansas City Royals. The All-Star Game is next week and even the hype for that is dead. It used to be an exciting week with the home run derby one night followed by the game the next. Now, with the teams all pretty much being a dud it could be the lowest rating sporting event in a while.

What will the Red Sox do at the trade deadline? They really do need another arm in the bullpen but who’s really out there? They will probably do nothing and keep the team they have. If they want to beat the Yankees, though, Price really needs to stop acting like a baby. I really don’t think that will happen.

Is Belichick Shopping Rob Gronkowski?

Bill Belichick Trading Away Gronkowski?

Via CNN

Let’s face it: Bill Belichick isn’t afraid of trading anybody. From Richard Seymour to Logan Mankins, Belichick won’t hesitate to trade veteran starters. With Rob Gronkowski working out a new contract, it’s come out today teams are looking at Gronkowski as trade bait. Training camp is about three weeks away. The Patriots probably want a new contract done at least before the start of the season.

Brady Would Be Livid

Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal has done some digging. He asked executives around the league about how teams are looking at the Gronkowski contract situation in New England. Bedard was told by an AFC executive, “Where’s the restructure of his contract? Until that’s done, I think he’s still available. I wouldn’t be surprised if Belichick is going to test Gronk’s buy-in with the contract.” It would be stunning if Belichick traded Gronkowski because they couldn’t agree on terms of a contract. I know of one player who would be livid if that happened: Tom Brady.

Gronkowski Is Here as Long as Brady Is

Brady is already out his number one target for in Julian Edelman for the first month of the season. He doesn’t have Danny Amendola anymore. All he has is Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell who’s returning from injury, and new Patriot Cordarrelle Paterson. There is no way Brady would want or let Gronkowski be traded. Gronkowski is a huge asset to the offense and losing him would be hard to replace. The Patriots selected Ryan Izzo, a tight end in this year’s NFL Draft. But there’s no way he’ll start unless Gronkowski does get traded. If they want to get rid of a tight end it should be Dwayne Allen. Allen was awful last season for the Patriots.

At the end of the day, I don’t think Gronkowski will get traded because Tom Brady would have nobody to throw to at the beginning of the season. He should’ve just retired at the end of last season if he knew Belichick was going to trade away the whole team so Josh McDaniels can start with a fresh new team in 2019. But Gronkowski will be here as long as Tom Brady is on the team. Two more years.

Julian Edelman’s Suspension Upheld

Fireworks Out Of Foxborough

(AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

Tom Brady’s number one target, Julian Edelman, had his suspension upheld late last night. He will be out for the first four games of the season. All offseason, Tom Brady has been working one-on-one with Edelman in Chestnut Hill and in the practice field house at Gillette Stadium.

Edelman’s Suspension Is A Blow To The Offense

The night before the Fourth of July and Fireworks were coming out of Foxborough, it seemed like fireworks have been going off all off season with this team. The latest news on Edelman is another firework, but not the friendly kind. Tom Brady will have to rely on other targets like Rob Gronkowski and Chris Hogan. The loss of Danny Amendola to free agency is a considerable blow to the offense.

This is really not a good sign for Edelman, as he missed all of last season and was looking forward to getting back on the field in September. It looks like that will have to wait until October, when the Patriots play the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.

For the first four games, the Patriots open with the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, and Miami Dolphins. They will likely finish these games with better than a 2-2 record. As long as Hogan and Gronkowski stay healthy, they should be fine.

What Did Edelman Test Positive For?

(AP Photo/Winslow Townson)

It’s worth noting that league won’t release what Edelman tested positive for. Richard Sherman got his suspension reduced for a PED that was accidental so why didn’t Edelman? It doesn’t make sense why the league wouldn’t release what Edelman tested positive for. We already have the Patriots conspiracies floating around that Bill Belichick had something to do with it, which is downright ridicoulous.

We are about three weeks away from Patriots training camp. At that moment, we will see Brady and how he builds chemistry with his new young teammates. Unfortunately, he’ll have to find a new favorite target to replace Edelman for the month of September.

The Hanley Ramirez ‘Friend’ Situation That Cost Him His Job

The Hanley Ramirez Situation

Hanley Ramirez should probably search for some new friends after the past few weeks’ events. His so-called ‘best friend’ was smuggling drugs from New York to Boston and was stopped by police. If you don’t know the story, the friend, who hasn’t been identified, was stopped for a routine traffic stop.

(AP Photo/Lynne Sladky)

The Suspect Was Quick to Throw Hanley Under the Bus

The suspect told a Massachusetts state trooper that he was delivering a box to Hanley Ramirez’s mother. After he was pulled over, he called Ramirez via Facetime so the trooper could talk to Hanley. Hanley gave consent to search the box, which contained two kilograms of Fentanyl.

According to the Boston Globe, the suspect immediately told police Ramirez wasn’t involved at all and the box wasn’t for him. Hanley would be released from the Red Sox a month later.

Hanley supposedly grew up with this person and has known him since his childhood. The saying, though, is “you are who your friends are”. Hanley was hanging out with bad people. They threw him under the bus because they only care about themselves. Hanley got screwed and now he’s out of a job.

The Red Sox, who say they didn’t know until it came out in the media, are obviously lying because the rumor was going around for weeks before it was released.

What Is a Friend?

The word ‘friend’ is pretty simple. A friend is someone who doesn’t throw you under the bus. Someone who doesn’t give or do drugs around you. I’m talking about the hard drugs, because so-called “friends” that do those drugs will be quick to throw you under the bus. Which will cost you your job, like it did for Hanley Ramirez. In more dangerous situations a life would be lost. A  senseless tragedy because the ‘friend’ was only thinking about themselves.

It’s Quiet Around New England

Quiet Around Foxborough

There is a different vibe to this Patriots offseason. Tom Brady hasn’t participated in the offseason workout program with the team and is getting ready for the season is own way. Last week, Brady and Julian Edelman practiced in Chestnut Hill with trainer Alex Guerrero. Throughout the offseason, Brady has taken heat for missing OTAs with his team. With Edelman facing a four-game suspension at the start of the season, Brady wants to go to his number-one target in September.

Training Camp Begins Soon

Training camp begins in a month, and it’s been quiet for the last couple of weeks around the Patriots. Bill Belichick has enjoyed his trip overseas and will probably head over to Nantucket. The Patriots have been faced with a lot of distractions lately surrounding the team. So this might be a much needed month off from all the football drama surrounding the team. The only news around the Patriots right now is Edelman appealing his suspension. He had a hearing the other day at the league office and a decision hasn’t been made yet about it.

Tom Brady will probably head to Costa Rica for a family vacation. Then, he will go to Montana to practice with Edelman and other receivers. It’s pretty much a new receiving group, so it will be interesting to see how Brady connects with his newer wide receivers. Chris Hogan is going to have to step up and maybe take the lead if Edelman loses his appeal. Tight end Rob Gronkowski will still be a dominant force of the offense too. They will be missing Danny Amendola though.

The quiet around New England might be nice right now, but once we head into training camp, things will start heating up. We’ll see how Danny Etling connects with Tom Brady and if Brady does anything different from previous training camps.

David Price Loves Fortnite

David Price at It Again

David Price continues to give the media something to talk about. Ever since he’s gotten here he’s done nothing but complain about being in Boston and the fans. David Price once again made news this week after being asked if he’d pitch in the All-Star game. His response was “I’ll come up with something if I am an All-Star that I won’t have to pitch. I’ll play a lot of Fortnite the night before.”

What a response that is, but typical coming from him. When he was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in May it was reported that playing Fortnite was the cause of it. Price did say he would stop playing Fortnite at the ballpark because it became a distraction.

Playing Fortnite Is More Important Than Pitching

Last night the allergies must’ve kicked in as he didn’t pitch that great. Maybe he played Fortnite in his hotel the night before so his hand hurt. He’s making $31 million dollars a season. Price’s latest comments prove his childish behavior, and also that he’s upset his video game got taken away from him at the ballpark. So he says he’ll play before the All-Star game so he doesn’t have to pitch.

What a loser. He doesn’t deserve to be in the All-Star Game anyway. Price also said he wasn’t an All-Star, saying “I ain’t going. I’m not an All-Star. Craig Kimbrel is gonna get his, I didn’t vote for Craig because he’s Craig Kimbrel, he’s going to get his votes. I voted for Joe Kelly and Matt Barnes. Actually, I did vote for Craig. Joe, Barnes, and Craig. Craig doesn’t need votes. His name is going to get him in.”

Price doesn’t belong pitching on the Red Sox, period. He belongs on the Tampa Bay Rays again or some other bad team that doesn’t care about winning. He’d rather go home to his two dogs, family, his mother-in-law, and play video games than pitch on a big league team with high expectations. He’s nothing but a complete loser.

Tom Brady Hints He’s Playing Until 45

Tom Brady Spreading Rumors

Social media has a funny way of breaking news sometimes. Once again that was the case today when Tom Brady commented the number forty-five in Spanish on Instagram. It was a response to an ESPN post talking about how Brady told Oprah he was retiring sooner rather than later. Now if he does play until he’s 45, it contradicts my prediction that Brady will retire after the 2019 NFL season. What if he doesn’t get a contract and Brady wants to keep playing, but not for the Patriots? What happens then, and will it ever reach that point?

In my opinion, Brady will retire a Patriot, and no team will spend a lot on a 43-year-old quarterback. Brady has said he wants to play until he’s 45 when Jimmy Garoppolo was on the team. Now with Garoppolo off the team, he’s talking about spending more time with his kids and retirement could be sooner rather than later. After this Instagram comment, he’s sending mixed signals on what he’s doing. Sort of like a girl sending a guy mixed signals if she likes him or not.

Brady Messing With People’s Heads

Maybe Brady is just fooling us and will retire at the end of his contract in 2019. Nobody really knows except Tom and his wife. Tom knows when he’s going to hang up the cleats for the final time, and maybe Robert Kraft knows too. Brady’s loyalty is all to Robert Kraft and Kraft would never trade Tom Brady. The Instagram comment has everyone around social media hopping on it to figure out what it means.

With Brady being the greatest of all time he can say and do whatever he wants. He’s earned that right he could say he’s playing until 45 to mess with our heads and get people talking. However, he could be really hanging up his jersey at the end of the 2019 season. Nobody really knows.

Tom Brady Knows The End Is Near

Brady Planning For Life After Football

Tom Brady has been distant this offseason and doing training at TB12. Tom Brady revealed to Oprah that the end is sooner rather than later. He realizes since he got his way with Garoppolo being traded and has won five Super Bowls, it’s time to focus on his family. Oprah misread what Tom Brady meant when he said at the end of his documentary Tom vs. Time. He had said, “Why are we doing this, what are we doing this for.” It had nothing to do with him spiritually as much as it did that Garoppolo was no longer a Patriot and Brady’s job wasn’t in jeopardy.

Tom Brady Wants To Play For Josh McDaniels As Head Coach

Tom wants one year with Josh McDaniels as head coach. Then he’ll ride off into the sunset with his head held high and five or six Super Bowl rings.  Tom Brady has accomplished so much in his almost 20 years in New England. Some fans might be upset because he went back on what he said. Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t on the team anymore. It’s fine if he wants to retire, but he shouldn’t put that he wants to play until he’s 45 when Garoppolo is here and then talks about family and spending more time with them when Jimmy’s gone.

Some Patriot fans don’t want to see the reality and think that Tom Brady can do no wrong. All this skipping out on voluntary workouts was very unusual for Tom Brady. He always talked about how the OTAs were so important in preparation. The end is near, and Brady will play out his contract and then retire. Brady has a year left with Bill Belichick and a year with Josh McDaniels. Then, Danny Etling will be at quarterback with McDaniels as head coach in 2020. Enjoy the short break the Patriots have now. Once training camp starts, things will be heating up.
