The 2020 NFL Draft has finally come to an end, and various trades, changes and adjustments have been made throughout it. Yet, just one day after its conclusion, rumours have been abounding over the New England Patriots defensive lineman Keionta Davis. According to certain sources, the 26-year-old player has been released from his position with the Patriots, having only played a total of six games during his time with the team. All of those games occurred during the 2018 season, after he signed with the Patriots in August of 2017.

Oddly enough, it was only in March that it was thought Davis had re-signed with the New England team for the long-term. He entered the NFL undrafted straight from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 2017, but he missed out on his entire rookie season due to being on the non-football injury list. Following on from that, he spent the entirety of the 2019 season on the injured reserve list, too.

While on the Patriots team, Davis served as part of a deep group on the defensive line, playing alongside stars like Lawrence Guy, Adam Butler and Byron Cowart, amongst others. However, it’s likely that Davis didn’t really benefit from the 10 draft selections that the Patriots opted for this time around. This is especially true with the team opting for edge rushers Josh Uche and Anfernee Jennings on Days 2 and 3, respectively.

Patriots Draft More Greats to Bolster the Team

While Jennings and Anfernee already look to provide the Patriots with some great new blood, the team also turned to Kyle Dugger of Lenoir-Rhyne from the Chargers on the second day via trade. Day 3 also saw the Patriots select tight ends in Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene, who were also acquired through trade from the Raiders and the Jets, respectively.

As noted, this will likely bolster the team and there are hopes for a dramatically increased performance in the 2020-21 season. Sportsbooks saw plenty of action surrounding the Patriots last season, although it wasn’t to be in the end, considering that the Super Bowl witnessed the Kansas City Chiefs come out on top over the San Francisco 49ers. Alas, could the upcoming season be the one that really helps push the Patriots to next year’s Super Bowl?

The likelihood is that many online sportsbooks will be looking for that to be the case. Platforms like Bet9ja often do very well out of the Super Bowl and on NFL betting in general, so there are hopes for it to once again have a big turnout. Those of you who aren’t familiar with this sportsbook in particular will find that it has a special welcome offer on hand, too. From using the Bet9ja bonus code, you’ll be on the receiving end of a 100% bonus on top of your initial deposit, with a maximum of 100 000 being available altogether. Plus, you’ll get two free bets on top of that as well – so what better way could there be of celebrating the NFL and the latest Patriots drafts?
