Caps Tie the Stanley Cup Final Series 1-1

The Capitals held on to edge the Golden Knights 3-2, evening the Stanley Cup Final at a game apiece. Washington secured their first ever win in a Stanley Cup final series, as the team was swept by Detroit in its only other appearance in 1998. Braden Holtby made a spectacular save in the final minutes to help the Capitals secure the victory. The series now shifts to Washington for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday.

After another over the top pre-game show, Vegas drew first blood early to take a 1-0 lead.

The Capitals then fought back with three straight goals, including the Ovechkin’s first Stanley Cup Final goal. The Golden Knights shrunk their deficit to one goal, but just couldn’t tie it.

Vegas had numerous chanches to tie the game, including a 5 on 3 power play. Holtby stayed solid and handed the Golden Knights their first regulation loss at home in these playoffs.
