Are you planning on taking a trip to the Midwest? If so, you need to add the city of Chicago to your list of destinations.

Chicago is famous for its rich history, collection of professional sports teams and diverse list of attractions. There’s so much to experience in Chicago that it’s hard to fit everything into your itinerary.

If you’re having difficulty prioritizing, this list of attractions and activities should make your job a whole lot easier.

Start Your Day at the Cloud Gate

You can’t take a trip to the Windy City without visiting the Cloud Gate ( also referred to the Bean). The Bean was constructed in 2006 and has been an iconic piece of the city ever since.

This stainless-steel sculpture is no joke; the Bean measures approximately 33 feet by 66 feet by 42 feet. No to mention, this humungous sculpture weighs about 110 short tons!

The Bean is the perfect backdrop for pictures and selfies, so remember to bring a camera or smartphone along for the trip.

Visit the Michael Jordan Statue

Even if you aren’t a basketball fan, you have to take a quick detour and visit the Michael Jordan statue (also referred to as The Spirit of Michael Jordan).

Michael Jordan played in Chicago for a large portion of his career. To pay respect to the sport’s greatest player, a statue of him was erected in 1994.

Although it’s been relocated a handful of times, you can currently find the statue in the United Center.

Axe Throwing

If you’ve never gone before, then you need to take the opportunity to try axe throwing in Chicago — especially if you’re looking to have some fun!

Although axe throwing originates from Canada, it’s become a popular pastime across the continent. This is because it’s the optimal mix of social, athletic and good, old-fashioned fun.

This incredible bar sport is the perfect way to let loose after a long day of walking around the city. You get to throw some axes, enjoy delicious snacks and maybe have an adult beverage — just remember to follow the axe throwing league rules!

Most axe throwing leagues allow walk-ins, but if you’re traveling with a large group, it’s best if you call ahead of time. This will ensure that everyone in your group will be able to get in on the axe throwing action.

Ghosts and Gangsters Tour

During the Prohibition era, gangsters and mobsters ruled the city of Chicago with iron fists. This twist in the road is an intriguing piece of the city’s history that you don’t want to ignore.

If you consider yourself a history buff or are particularly fond of learning about the Prohibition era, then Chicago is the place for you. The city offers a variety of “ghost and gangster” themed tours.

During these tours, you’ll be escorted through the city by a trained tour guide who will teach you all about the Prohibition era and drop your jaw with unbelievable stories. This is the perfect way to end your night in the Windy City.

You can’t plan a trip to Chicago without adding the awesome activities listed above to your list.
