Celtics Concerned about Kyrie Irving’s Upcoming Free Agency

When Kyrie Irving sat down with the Cavaliers in the summer of 2017, he gave Dan Gilbert a list of several teams he wished to be traded to.  The New York Knicks, a franchise Irving has reportedly long sought after and even told his former teammates about, topped that list.

Kyrie was ultimately traded to the Boston Celtics, one team not on the list Kyrie gave to the Cavaliers.  However, it’s widely presumed he added the Celtics prior to the trade.

Early Irving

When the Celtics took on Kyrie they knew that they only had two seasons to convince the young star to stay. Irving now sits at the helm of a young team loaded with potential and loaded with talent. Boston made it as far as the Eastern Conference Finals, falling to Kyrie’s former team in a tightly contested seven-game series. They did all of it without the presence of both Irving and star forward Gordon Hayward.

Irving produced an exceptional first season with the Celtics, putting up 24.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in 60 games played. Despite his individual success as well as the team’s overall success, reports indicate that the Celtics are concerned about his impending free agency in 2019.

Talk on the Street

Here is the full quote from Yahoo Sport’s Chris Mannix who broke the news earlier today.

“I think they’re scared. I think they’re scared and should be scared to some degree of Kyrie walking in 2019. I know he had a great year, but you know there are people in Cleveland that will tell you that the Knicks should be considered a real threat for Kyrie Irving. Because Kyrie had talked about it—about playing with the Knicks with some players in that Cleveland locker room—from what I was told.”

It would make sense that Kyrie looks at the Knicks favorably. He grew up in New Jersey and the Knicks will have a ton of cap space available by 2019. Though the team does not have nearly as bright a future as Boston’s, Irving would get his opportunity to be the lone shining star on a rebuilding franchise. This is something he has openly desired and was a major reason for his departure from Lebron James and the Cavaliers.

Ultimately the Celtics should be the favorites to re-sign Kyrie next summer. He has seen what the team can do without him.  Imagine how formidable the team will be with an active Kyrie and Hayward. Money shouldn’t be an issue as Boston will offer Irving a max contract level deal by 2019.

The concerns are very real and present, but they shouldn’t cause Danny Ainge to make a panic deal now. The team can offer Irving more than enough reason to stay on board long-term.

A look into JC Jackson: UDFA Corner Gets First Team Reps

Well, it’s that time of the year again. Mandatory mini camps started Tuesday for the Patriots, and players are looking to prove themselves to try to secure a roster spot. One of the biggest surprises of OTAs and the mini camps thus far is an undrafted free agent, JC Jackson, starting opposite Gilmore.

Jackson’s College Career

Maryland v Wisconsin

JC (Jerald Christopher) Jackson began his career at the University of Florida. However, an injury in the 2014 season opener knocked him out for the rest of the year. Eventually, the program dismissed him in 2015 after felony charges for which he was eventually acquitted. Jackson played at Riverside Community College before transferring to Maryland where he played two seasons. In that span, he amassed 80 tackles, four interceptions, and 12 pass breakups (NFL.com).

Jackson’s Game

  • Very physical and aggressive. Impressive response and speed to the curl route shown below.
  • Active and willing in the run game. Does a great job getting off the block and tackling/forcing the back out of bounds
  • Excellent play recognition. Reads the quarterback well. Got off a route to break up to the pass to the receiver cutting to the outside.
  • Mirrors routes well and has the speed to still disrupt the play even if he gets a little behind

However, Jackson gets a bit grabby with his hands which can lead to pass interference calls. He also has a problem with consistency. Nonetheless, JC Jackson is a name to keep an eye out in the future when training camp and preseason comes around.

Edelman Speaks Out After Suspension News

Julian Edelman weighed in after the news broke yesterday that he faces a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance- enhancing substance policy. The suspension is under appeal but if it does not get overturned Edelman will be missing the first four regular season games.

The Statement

Number 11 took to Instagram (@edelman11) to apologize to the Kraft family, the coaches, his teammates and the fans. He posted this message on his Instagram story:

2018 Season

He notes that no matter what happens, he will be ready to go for the season, whether that be game one or game five. He told fans that he looks forward to pursing another championship run with the New England Patriots, but cannot speak too much on the matter of the suspension at this time.

Danton Heinen

Danton Heinen’s Breakout Season

The 2017-2018 season ended in disappointing fashion for the Boston Bruins. They surprised many finishing second in the Eastern Conference, just one point behind Tampa Bay. The talented young nucleus of the Bruins including players such as Charlie McAvoy, Jake DeBrusk, Matt Grzelcyk, and Danton Heinen carried the team. Next season the Bruins will expect more from these young players who are expected to form the next Bruins core.

Danton Heinen’s First Full season

When the 2017-2018 season campaign began Heinen was not on many people’s radars but that will not be the case going into next season.

The Bruins drafted Danton Heinen in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL draft. He made his debut in the 2016-2017 season, appearing in eight games. This past season he earned a more prominent role and spent the majority of the season on the Bruins third line. Due to injuries throughout the season, Heinen sometimes found himself on the Bruins first and second line. In seventy games Heinen scored 16 goals along with 31 assists, very effective on the power play recording twelve power play points. Heinen made the Bruins third line dangerous as he played alongside David Backes and Riley Nash, who had a career year. The rookie finished fourth on the Bruins in points, four ahead of fellow rookie Jake DeBrusk. The former fourth-round pick had a very productive regular season but the playoffs were a different story.

Danton Heinen Struggles in the playoffs

Despite a solid rookie season Heinen was a non factor in the playoffs. In nine games he scored one goal and did not record an assist. In the second round Heinen was a healthy scratch for game four as the Bruins tried to find a spark for their dormant offense. It was a playoff run to forget and one that will motivate Heinen next season. Despite his playoff struggles Heinen still had a impressive rookie season that not many did not see coming.

What To Expect Next Season

Heinen is not a player who will score thirty goals like Marchand or Pastrnak . The Bruins do not need him to be that type of player.  Heinen showed last year that he can contribute in different ways. He is not selfish with the puck as his thirty one assists were the fourth highest on the team. Heinen gives the Bruins a dangerous third-line center who is also very productive on the power play. Like many of the other Bruins players, Heinen will be motivated after a disappointing ending to the 2017- 2018 season. If he can build on his rookie season than the Bruins third line will again be a threat.

Stanley Cup Final – Game 5 Recap

The Washington Capitals Won the Stanley Cup

After 44 seasons, the Capitals are finally the best team in hockey.

Game 5 last night was deadlocked until the third period. Eller scored late to give the Caps a 4-3 win to win the series 4-1. It was the Capitals’ fourth consecutive victory over the Golden Knights, whose incredible inaugural season finally ended in the desert in the Stanley Cup Final.

Vegas pulled the goalie in the final two minutes, but could not muster any pressure on Holtby. The Golden Knights may not have won the Stanley Cup, but their inaugural season gave their fans and the city memories to cherish.

After many years of crushing losses and disappointment, these Capitals won their fourth consecutive closeout game with a third period comeback.

Alex Ovechkin was the playoff MVP, and he also set a franchise record with 15 goals. Him and his teammates are bringing home Washington’s first Stanley Cup. This is also the city’s first championship in professional sports since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 1992.

A sea of red-clad fans filled the streets of D.C. to celebrate their team’s victory back home. Meanwhile, thousands of Capitals fans were on hand in Vegas to witness franchise history.

On This Day In Red Sox History: June 8, 1950

On June 8, 1950, the Red Sox played host to the St. Louis Browns at Fenway Park. The Red Sox had crushed the Browns the previous day by a score of 20-4. That game proved to be only the appetizer to the upcoming entrée. The Red Sox, whose offense clicked at historic levels that season, were ready to set a few records on that Thursday afternoon.

The 1950 Red Sox

This was one of several Red Sox clubs from that era victimized by there being no playoffs. Two teams played for the World Series in those days, there were no playoffs leading up to them. You had the best record in the league or you didn’t. The 1950 Red Sox went 94-60, which is more wins than either of the division winning teams the Red Sox have fielded the past two seasons, in fewer games. However, they did not get the chance to play for anything.

The Red Sox also scored 1067 runs as a team in 1950, only 40 less than the Major League record. They did all this while missing Ted Williams for half the season, who broke his elbow at the All-Star Game. Williams had hit 28 home runs and driven in 97 runs over just 89 games. Six of their eight regulars that season batted over .300, with the other two finishing above .290. Their top utility player, Billy Goodman, batted .354! This team deserved a chance to play in a postseason.

The Red Sox bats did not disappoint in the previous days game, scoring 20 runs on 23 hits. The team had hit five home runs in the onslaught.

Red Sox box score from June 7, 1950.

The Game Gets Underway

The Red Sox featured nearly the same lineup as the day before, and why not? They had just banged out 20 runs after all. The only differences were in the 8-9 spots. Matt Batts replaced Birdie Tebbetts at catcher batting 8th, and the 9th spot was filled by the pitcher, Chuck Stobbs. The team didn’t look like they were about to accomplish something historic when they went scoreless in the first inning. Johnny Pesky and Ted Williams were stranded on base in the inning.

The floodgates were opened up in the 2nd inning. Coming off a three hit day, Al Zarilla started the inning with a double. Take note of that, as he would have a few more of them before the game ended. After a walk to Bobby Doerr, backup catcher Matt Batts doubled in the first run of the game. The pitcher Chuck Stobbs then drew a walk, another common theme of the game. The bases were loaded with a run already in. Two straight fly balls netted just one run but Ted Williams was due up with two men still on base. He unloaded on the Cliff Fannin offering to right for a three-run homer and the Sox had themselves a five run inning.

They weren’t finished. After a walk Walt Dropo homered to left field to make it seven runs in. Al Zarilla then doubled for the second time during the inning and was brought home by Bobby Doerr. When Fannin finally got out of the second inning the Red Sox had 8 runs in and had sent 12 men to the plate.

Red Sox Pile On

The Browns pinch-hit for Cliff Fannin in the third, ending his day with just two innings pitched. They picked up three runs on three hits and two walks in the inning to make it an 8-3 ballgame. The Red Sox offense then went to work against Cuddles Marshall, not a daunting name.

Chuck Stobbs drew his second walk in as many plate appearances. Two more walks had the bases loaded against Cuddles with just one out. Vern Stephens doubled to left to score two, followed by Walt Dropo’s two-run single. The score was 12-3. Al Zarilla doubled once more and Bobby Doerr brought home a run with a sacrifice fly. The Red Sox reloaded the bases, again. Chuck Stobbs drew his second walk of the inning, third of the game, and yes, he was the pitcher. But Cuddles Marshall was able to get out of the inning with “only” five runs scored.

The Browns went 1-2-3 in the top of the 4th and the Red Sox offense went right back at it. Vern Stephens scored Johnny Pesky with a triple, then was driven home by Walt Dropo. Bobby Doerr hit his first homer of the game, a 2-run shot, and Cuddles Marshall’s day was over. Marshall allowed nine runs while only recording four outs. Sid Schacht replaced him and fared better, only if because he kind of had to. Chuck Stobbs drew his fourth consecutive walk, a record for walks drawn by a pitcher in one game.

Chuck Stobbs set a record for pitchers by drawing 4 walks.

The Sox Ease Up

The Red Sox scored two more in the fifth but were held scoreless in the sixth. Meanwhile, Stobbs wasn’t having much trouble on the mound or in the batter’s box. After a scoreless sixth he had still allowed runs in just the one inning. The seventh gave him more trouble, as he walked two and hit a batter. However, the Browns still failed to score so the game remained 22-3 Boston at the 7th inning stretch.

The Sox wasted no time in adding to their lead in the bottom half. Al Zarilla led off the inning with his fifth hit of the day, and the first that wasn’t a double. Bobby Doerr then followed him up with a 2-run shot over the monster in left, his second home run of the game. Doerr had now driven in seven runs on the day. The next three batters went down in order; 24-3 Red Sox after seven.

Red Sox Set Records

Sid Schacht had pitched alright considering how others before him had fared, but he lost it in the 8th. The Red Sox homered three times off him in the inning before he was removed with one out. Johnny Pesky opened the inning with a double to right, his fifth hit of the day. Ted Williams then hit the first of three 8th inning homers, his second of the day. Williams drove in five runs in the blowout. Vern Stephens singled for his third hit of the day. Walt Dropo followed with his second home run of the game. Dropo had four hits and seven runs batted in. After a flyball out, Bobby Doerr deposited his third baseball over the wall in left field. Doerr had four hits, three of them home runs, and eight runs batted in! Schacht’s night was over, as was the scoring for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox had set a Major League record with their 29 runs scored in the game. Their 29-4 victory also set the record for largest victory in big league history. The 60 total bases accumulated by Red Sox hitters was also a record. Beyond that, coupled with their 20-4 thrashing of the Browns the day before, the Red Sox had set a record with 49 runs scored and 51 base hits over a two game span. Throw in pitcher Chuck Stobbs record four walks in one game for a pitcher (not to mention his two base hits) and the Red Sox were living large.

Bobby Doerr hit three home runs and drove in eight runs in the 29-4 demolition of the Browns.

LeBron James Compares Warriors to Patriots

LeBron James is no stranger to excellent teams and knows one when he sees one. After Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals, James mentioned the Warriors and the Patriots in the same breath, discussing both teams’ mistake-free play.

The Cavaliers are heading into Game 4, one loss away from a sweep. The Cavs know they can’t make any mistakes against the Warriors if a crazy comeback were to happen again. The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have been to the Finals four years in a row, and the Warriors have won two of the last three. With superstars like Kevin Durant and Steph Curry, no one is surprised that they have made it back to the Finals year after year. People have compared the Warriors to many past NBA teams, but James took to football to make a comparison. LeBron noted that playing the Warriors is like playing the Patriots, because you cannot make mistakes against them.

LBJ Press Conference

Number 23 makes a good point. During the Belichick/Brady Era, we’ve seen teams make mistakes against the Patriots that cost them the game. The Malcolm Butler interception, anyone?

In true NBA Twitter fashion, the New England Patriots’ Twitter account responded with the eyes emoji. James mentioned he is taking a break from social media, so don’t expect to see any social media friendships develop between LBJ and the Patriots.

2018 NBA Finals

This Cavs/Warriors series could have been a lot closer if it were not for certain errors by Cleveland. All J.R. Smith had to do was know the score and we’d probably be looking at a 3-1 series. And we all know 3-1 leads are hard to keep (Hi, Cleveland Indians and Golden State Warriors). LeBron was clearly, and understandably, frustrated and knows his team cannot continue to make mistakes, especially against a team like Golden State that isn’t, “…going to beat themselves.”

LeBron and Boston

With news flying around that James is set to meet with the Celtics, just the mention of another New England team has fans speculating even more. It is a long shot that we will ever see LBJ in a Celtics uniform, many think Boston is on his mind more than fans originally thought.

Image result for lebron james celtics

Not every Boston fan has expressed excitement over this rumor and many do not want to see “The King” in green and white. We sent out a Twitter Poll to find out what fans are thinking and many voted against LeBron coming to Beantown. Boston fans may never agree on what moves they want the Celtics to make when it comes to LeBron, or anyone for that matter. I’m sure they will agree with 23 when it comes to the greatness of the Patriots.

Revs USOC Failure Hits Hard

The U.S. Open Cup has two purposes in American Soccer. It gives smaller division teams a chance to shine, and for the bigger clubs to earn some spending money. No one ever expects the lower division teams to make it far, and when they do they’re called cupsets. Unfortunately, the Revs found themselves on the wrong side of one on Tuesday.

How Did This Happen?

It’s no secret that whenever MLS clubs play lower division teams they start a weaker lineup. The Revolution were no different, starting what was basically their C team on Tuesday against Louisville City FC.  However, the team that took the field was not prepared to play. With lack of a USL affiliate, this was the first game a lot of the players had played since the preseason. The starting lineup used by Brad Freidel featured  Zach Herivaux,  Brian Wright, Femi, Mark Segbers, and Nick Samoyoa. None of which have started a game for the Revs this season, and only Wright and Herivaux came off the bench.

While there were other MLS teams participating, as of now, the Revs have been the only one to lose in the fourth round to a USL team. 2018 is much different from the Revs’ recent runs, which included a trip to the semi-final last year and a loss in the finals two years ago. The last time the Revs were eliminated in the fourth round was three years ago when they lost to USL side Charlotte Independence.

What Does This Mean?

In all honesty, this could be beneficial to the Revs. A loss means they don’t have to worry about playing an extra game every once in awhile. It allows the team to fully focus on the league and maintain match fitness. While the Revs traveled back home after Tuesday’s loss, they went right back to work for upcoming road games in Chicago and San Jose. This loss will hurt fans because U.S. Open Cup games are always fun to attend.

While Brad Freidel had some choice words for the players who were on the field, it’s up to the players to make sure they come back strong. This is typical for all teams but especially the Revs. A coach says they’ll use something to strengthen the squad, but now the players have to act on it.

The Revs have a challenge on their hands as they go on a road stretch until the end of the month. On Friday afternoon the team will travel to Chicago to play the Fire on Saturday. After that, they will have a Wednesday night game against San Jose. After that, the Revs get two weeks off for the World Cup before returning home. Then they will start the hardest part of their season. Revs will have to take advantage of their home games as they are quickly running out of them. They will also have to rely on their ability to win games on the road. Only time will tell if the Revs are up for the challenge.

Tom Brady Speaks

Tom Brady Speaks to the Media

Via Chat Sports

Tom Brady finally spoke to the media yesterday. According to him, nothing has changed with his relationship with the team and Belichick. He’s having fun and feels appreciated, so the things he said about pleading the fifth to Jim Gray a month ago mean nothing. When Bill Belichick spoke earlier in the week, he also said he’s always had a good relationship with Brady. All this drama and gossip since last October has been blown out of proportion and there’s nothing to see here. Really, however, they are trying not to let it get in the way of their football operation on the field. So saying the right thing would be pushing the drama aside and focusing on what’s more important.

Now with Edelman possibly facing suspension, will Brady show up for next week’s optional throwing camps? Brady said yesterday, “we’re not even through today yet”. Brady also wouldn’t talk about his contract: “I’ve never talked about my contract, I’ve never brought up money for a lot of reasons that I’ve said over the years. Those things are very personal.”

Is Brady Lying?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycvNVxhxgRU

The keyword is personal. Everything about Brady is personal. It’s weird though he’ll tell Jim Gray he pleads the fifth if he feels appreciated by Belichick and Kraft. Then with the local media, he says he has a good relationship with Belichick. Which one is it, Tom? Do you not feel appreciated enough by your coach? Or do you not feel appreciated by your coach? Tom Brady has accomplished a lot in his 18 years here and has won five Super Bowls. Now he’s starting to take this diva lifestyle behind the scenes. Like complaining about Garoppolo being there and his trainer not being allowed in the locker room. Then in front of the camera, he’s acting like everything is good because he doesn’t want the distraction to be talked about on the field.

LeBron James Free Agency Preview

Regarded and self-identified as the “best player in the world”, LeBron James has yet another ‘decision’ to make this summer. With the Golden State Warriors one game away from dropping him to 3-6 in the Finals, James could possibly be looking to take his talents, again, somewhere else. After a 2018 Finals run for the King and all his men, LBJ is presenting beat, worn down, and plain tired of carrying a majority of the load.

By now, we all know the name and what he brings, so why wouldn’t the Celtics try to make a run at him right? The dynamic would be interesting, but it could also be forever damaging. Danny, if you’re reading this, for the love of Larry Bird do not consider this move. The case for having LeBron on your team is hard to dispute. However, there’s better reason to keep the King in a far away land that goes deeper than stats. Here’s why:

Image result for lebron james celtics

Style and Grace

Over the years, Boston basketball has transformed from a slow-paced, give Paul Pierce the ball and move, to the run and gun, high-flying showcase we see today. Maneuvering with an up-tempo style and constant ball movement, it’s somethingRelated image LBJ is almost unstoppable at when he has room in the paint. Aside from a Tatum throw-down or a Brown slash to the hoop, Boston’s ability to get to the rim outside of Kyrie has been close to non-existent. They’ve relied mostly on long bombs and mid range shots. No one gets to the hole like LBJ. Stylistically, the fit would ironically work.

However, the Celtics have two gems in Tatum and Brown, plus Hayward being another piece to the Celtics’ puzzle. Having the ability to also slash and drive, prepare to sometimes watch him put dudes on a poster if he’s not splashing a three in your face. With that said, Boston doesn’t have a need for an elite SF, and the minutes LeBron would own (38 MPG), would deplete the development of Tatum and Brown. This could possibly make Hayward obsolete as well.

Positionally, LeBron would hinder the Celtics’ growth along with minimizing the true potential for this particular team. He would command a majority of the ball handling and shot taking, something he took away from Kyrie in Cleveland.

The Celtics have a GOOD THING right now with their roster. Also, and most importantly, Boston does not have anywhere close to the finances to afford LeBron James.

To make it even worth discussing, Boston would have to trade two out of the three contracts in G.H./K.I./A.H. to possibly make room for him. Also, and without a doubt, the C’s would have to break up the young core AND give up draft picks should LBJ agree to a sign a trade. He’s worth it, but not for this team. Potentially, this could rank right up there with the Boston Tea Party as a historical event that would change the face of Boston forever.

“A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”

I bet Gandhi didn’t know he’d be referencing the Boston Celtics with that quote above. Still, it holds true. Culturally, LeBron would be an awful fit for the guys in green. Boston already has established leaders, one of which whom left Cleveland to rid Lebron’s shadow and lead his own squad.  Concern and frustration with Danny Ainge would ignite riots on the streets of Boston.

Also, and probably most pronounced, the guy leading this team dislikes James like the plague. Usually the high-road kind of guy, Irving would never tell us that he has a genuine distaste for LBJ. But could it be more obvious? Not only did he silence his way out of a winning situation in Cleveland, he was sick of being second to James and his ego.

It’s expected that Irving wouldn’t be fine moving back to the backseat to James yet again. The C’s even meeting with LBJ could raise some eyebrows and be harming to No. 11’s relationship, with the likelihood of becoming a free-agent himself next year. Boston has too great a situation with Kyrie as their leader. LeBron’s barely showed he can lead a team himself. Let’s not forget, if not for Kyrie or Ray Allen, the “King” would be 2-6 in the Finals. That’s pretty important, and a testament to LeBron’s reliance of those getting him a get out of jail free card.

LBJ has a history of problems with his coaches, and player. Enter zone Zero Dark Thirty

Brad Stevens, despite the lack of props from his peers, has emerged as one of the NBA’s best coaches. Not one for showing emotion all the time, Stevens has set himself apart as a coaching savant in the face of adversity. He was the driving force behind late game defensive shifts and play calling that would mimic the Rockets or Warriors. His leadership also allowed a short-handed Boston a run into the ECF. Still, Stevens is a no BS guy. James trying to side comment or question Stevens, someone who’s praised James, wouldn’t let it happen in Boston. With Erik Spoelstra, David Blatt, Mike Brown, Tyronn Lue and Paul Silas taking the LBJ heat, Boston’s locker room seemingly has too much respect for Stevens to join the LeBron Side Show.

Try imagining LBJ holding Ainge hostage like he did with Dan Gilbert. Being a regular with highway robbery, it would be laughable to see LBJ upset with his situation and try forcing trading away a whole team. Keep in mind, ’twas King GM who suggested J.R. Smith get his money, and had a say in the moves to “bring every hurt, former All-Star in” approach last off-season. Besides that, he was solely the catalyst who drove one of the best young NBA players in today’s game far, far away.

The Celtics are too solidified to acquire by a 33-year-old individualist, and the synergy for Boston wouldn’t work. Fans would absolutely lose their minds. Great player? Sure. Good for Boston? Definitely not.

What if things weren’t in favor of LBJ? Would he stop speaking to Smart because he can’t hit a shot? Would he point and display his crying face to Baynes if keeps getting dunked on? Truthfully, they’d be gone in a day in Cleveland. Hell, if not for it being the Finals, so would J.R. Smith. Usually one to go off the grid during the playoffs, LeBron has a tendency to “shut out” players he’s not fond of, even if they play on the same team. It’ll be surprising to see Lue on the sidelines for Cleveland if LBJ is back next year, and less likely if they get swept should he have a say as the player-coach-president he tries to be.

Fools Gold

When you’re king, you get draped in gold. Crowns, clothing, but most importantly rings. Yes, LBJ has three, but two of them were won by others. Two of them came from last second shots from players who’s bailed him out of poor play and faulty execution. Of course, LBJ lovers wont see it that way, but facts are facts. Truth is, ANY team that acquires LeBron is agreeing to sell not only their soul to get him, but sacrificing any chance for a future of a franchise. Sure, said team will ride that train for a while, but they’ll inevitably come crashing down years later having to rebuild from scraps. Danny is in “if it’s not broke why fix it” mode, and most likely wouldn’t sacrifice the structure he’s put in place for a LeBron James. It just doesn’t seem like something that would really fit in Boston.

If any NBA Finals proved to be a LeBron stopper, it’s this one. Yes, Golden State has potentially two HOF’s in Curry and Durant, and maybe even three with Klay Thompson. This series showed that LeBron is human. His teammates haven’t been the best statistically, but he did have a hand in picking them at one point. And the dude can’t keep or be agreeable with a coach to save his life. Something also doesn’t yell out “team” when you say things like ‘I feel confident because I’m the best player in the world’, and still lose in the finals. In fact, he would still be win-less in the Finals since that quote if not for Kyrie Irving. Best player in the world? Mmm.

All Hail the King?

Aside from being soft, Boston has also been one of LBJ’s main foes during his career. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a team that’s been the close to cracking the LeBron James code, especially one sometimes not full strength. This could be a case of if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Something that’s been LeBron’s m.o. in search of more championships. More likely though, it’s closer to a “Thanks, but no thanks” scenario. For now, LBJ sits high on Cleveland throne, but it’s becoming lonely with no prince to take his place. So before history repeats itself, and he has a chance to live out his best King Richard III impression, it’d be wise to keep LeBron out of Boston’s castle towers.Image result for lebron james celtics td garden
