Uprising Stage 3 Week 4 Preview: Philadelphia Fusion

New to Overwatch? Get caught up on everything Overwatch League by reading our introduction.

Saturday, June 30th @ 7:00pm: San Francisco Shock

There’s an old saying that familiarity breeds contempt.  For the Boston Uprising, who face the Philadelphia Fusion Saturday for the second time in two weeks, that means they’ll have an abundance of contempt to fuel them in this matchup. Don’t underestimate the power of pent up frustration. Look at last week. After losing to Paris two weeks earlier, Boston faced off with the Eternal again. We know how that ended – in a violent outburst only a soul crushing reverse sweep could cause. Can the Uprising go 2-2 in Stage 3 rematches?

Philadelphia Fusion

First, they’ll need to solidify the support line. With Aimgod and Kellex back on stage together, Boston was competitive with the top tier San francisco Shock, and reverse swept the Paris Eternal. Has Boston turned the corner and realized these two give them their best chance to win? Or does Huk want to keep playing with the toys in his war chest and see if he can build up more trade bait for other teams? While rumors, innuendo, and fake news crept around the internet about internal strife between Kellex/Aimgod, the two clearly give the Uprising their best chance to win.

Beyond the roster, Boston needs to settle on strats. In their last matchup, Boston played a lot of Sombra GOATs. We’ve seen all stage that Boston has slowly let go of living the GOATs life, abandoning it completely in both matches last week. They played a lot of Hackfist, PharMercy, bunker, and four dps. This played more to Boston’s strengths and caught Paris off guard. Only one of those is likely to be true this time. With Blase popping off on Fist, Fusions playing inspired Wrecking Ball/Winston, and Hex swapping back and forth between Zarya and Widow/Pharah, now’s not the time to lose your nerves. Lean in. All the chips in the middle. No hesitation. Live or die with these off meta comps as the sun sets on GOATs, and 2-2-2 is forced in Stage 4.

To win against Philadelphia every player is going to need to execute. Can Fusion avoid the focus fire and stand on his head? Will rCk avoid getting picked first and farm his EMP before their Sombra – Carpe? How will Aimgod and Kellex play when the internet’s rumor mill is on overdrive about them? Boston will need that synergy that we know they’re capable of. Only their best Overwatch will do it against a good team like Philly.

Outlook

I like Boston’s chances Saturday. As Blase said in this weeks Sights and Sounds video, these guys lost their confidence. Their swagger. Well if that’s the case, a patented reverse sweep ought to have given the boys some pep in their step. No reason to fear last year’s Grand Finals runner ups. Every reason to shove these zebra print wearing has-beens into a locker. No excuses.

Tom Brady Takes Jab at Max Kellerman’s Infamous “Cliff” Comment

“Tom Brady’s just about done,” said ESPN’s First Take co-host Max Kellerman on July 28th, 2016. “It could be his next game he plays, it could be a year from now. But he is going to fall off a cliff.” Kellerman would then complete this infamous rant by adding, “Tom Brady is going to be a bum in short order.”

We are just a month away from reaching the third year anniversary of this proclamation. In the first year after Kelerman’s remark, Brady did not have a memorable year. He only won the Super Bowl and MVP of the game after coming back from down 25 points late in the third quarter.

The next year was okay for Brady. He won the MVP at 40 and made it to another Super Bowl where he threw for over 500 yards in a losing effort.

In 2018, the 41 year old led his team to another Super Bowl championship, the 6th of his illustrious career. Not a big deal.

Let’s recap. In his three seasons since Kellerman stated he was “going to be a fall off a cliff”, Brady has won two Super Bowls and been to another. He has one regular season MVP and one Super Bowl MVP. He has thrown for 89 touchdowns and 12,486 yards. If that is being a bum, I could only imagine what his prime must have been like.

Now, Brady prefers not to talk about specific media members or quotes criticizing his play. He would much rather prove them wrong on the field. However, Thursday, Brady took a shot at Kellerman’s almost three year old comments.

On his Instagram Story, Brady had a radar gun clocked in at 61 miles per hour. He captioned the post with “He’s Gonna Fall Off a Cliff” followed by a football and a thinking face emoji.

This could prove to be an interesting peek into Brady’s competitive fire. We have all heard this story before, as 198 players (including six quarterbacks) were taken ahead of him. He has been honest about still wanting to earn the right to be the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots.

But when it comes to media criticism, how much does Brady check in? He definitely does have people in his circle, professionally and socially, who listen. They might pay attention so he can truly block out the noise and focus on the task at hand.

However, Brady is a human being. At least, I’m fairly certain he is. For anyone to hear someone say that your skills are depleting and you are not good enough anymore will light anybody’s fire. Especially for one of the greatest most successful athletes this country has ever produced.

Brady taking a little shot at Kellerman shows how confident he is in himself and his abilities. He is ready for another NFL season, even though he will be 42 the next time he jogs onto Gillette’s turf.

Red Sox-White Sox Series Recap

Another series has come and gone for the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox played the Chicago White Sox in a three game series at Fenway Park before taking off to London to play the Yankees. Boston came away with a two out of three series win over the A.L. Central White Sox. Here is a recap of the whole series.

Monday Night: Red Sox 6 White Sox 5

The Red Sox found a way to win on Monday night. They survived game one of the series with a 6-5 win over the White Sox. Marco Hernandez was the hero as he hit an infield single to shortstop to drive home the game winning run. Eduardo Nunez and Andrew Benintendi led the way offensively for the Red Sox as they had two hits a piece.

On the pitching side, Eduardo Rodriguez got the start and pitched adequately. He finished the night throwing 6 and 1/3 innings while giving up six hits, five earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. The impressive part of this game was the bullpen. The bullpen combined to give up 0 earned runs while giving up two hits, two walks, and had six strikeouts in 2 and 2/3 innings. Credit to the Red Sox bullpen for getting the Red Sox the opening win of the series!

Tuesday Night: Red Sox 6 White Sox 3

In the second game of the three game series, the Red Sox found themselves as winners once again. They came away with a 6-3 over the White Sox in what was a convincing win. Offensively in this one, it was the Rafael Devers show. Devers finished the game going 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Xander Bogaerts had a two run homerun in this game as well.

David Price got the start in this one and he continued to dominate as he has the whole season. Price went 6 innings. He gave up two earned runs on eight hits while also compiling nine strikeouts on the night. The bullpen once again did a fantastic job closing this game out. The combination of Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, and Brandon Workman gave up no runs, with two hits, one walk, and six strikeouts to their credit. This was another complete effort for the Red Sox to win game two of the series and ultimately win the series as well.

Wednesday Afternoon: White Sox 8 Red Sox 7

The Red Sox tried to finish off the sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately, they fell just a little bit short. The Red Sox ended up losing the series finale by a score of 8-7. The White Sox were able to pull through, thanks to a Jose Abreu two run homerun off of Matt Barnes in the top of the ninth inning.

Offensively, the lineup was pretty balanced in this one. Rafael Devers had three more hits. Xander Bogaerts had two hits of his own, including a go ahead single in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox up 7-6. J.D. Martinez, Michael Chavis, and Jackie Bradley Jr. also had two hits a piece during the game.

For the pitching staff, Chris Sale had the start in this one. He gave up five runs on six hits, while striking out 10. Steven Wright made his 2019 debut and had a strikeout in one inning of work. Matt Barnes was the losing pitcher in this one as he gave up two runs on three hits.

In Conclusion

The Red Sox should have realistically swept this series. But, two out of three is always successful. Now, the Red Sox get to play in London for an upcoming two game series against the Yankees. Salvage a split or even sweep of the brief series and come back to the states ready to close out the first half of the season on a positive note!

Inside the Training and Nutrition Programs Tom Brady Uses to Stop Time

Time and tide wait for no man. No one is so powerful that they can stop the march of time.
So says an old proverb. No one really knows where it came from, but the earliest recorded
date was in 1225. The message is especially irrefutable if you’ve lived long enough to wake
up to joint pain and crow’s feet.
But seven hundred, eighty and some odd years later, the wisdom of this proverb faces a real
challenge.
The guy’s name is Tom Brady. The quarterback of the New England Patriots is ageless, not
to mention a straight-up G.O.A.T.
His accomplishments in professional football have been aired a million times but bear
repeating—six Super Bowl championships, three league MVP awards, and 14 Pro Bowl
nods. He’s the owner of just about every NFL postseason passing record.
Whether time and tide are, in fact, waiting for Brady or if he’s stopped time all together is
fodder for barroom debate. What’s certain is that Brady’s elite longevity in the NFL is owed
to a very methodical lifestyle.
Brady will be 42-years-old when the 2019 NFL season opens in August. It’s no happy
accident he’s still in the game. Number 12 fanatically follows a training and nutrition
program that keeps him competitive while powering the Patriots to the top of Oddschecker’s
Super Bowl LIV forecast.

A Younger Man’s Quest to Stay Young
While it’s difficult to believe, Brady, at 25, was in frequent pain. He knew his football career
would be unsustainable without drastic lifestyle changes.
This early-career catalyst has led Brady on a 15-year odyssey perfecting the ultimate training
regimen. Along the way, he’s proven the human body to be an instrument – playable,
tunable, and capable of beautiful music in the right hands.
Brady has developed enviable discipline on the road to age-proofing himself. His daily
schedule and activities are tightly micromanaged, ensuring he follows a rigid protocol.
Maybe deep down inside, Brady has a fear of public speaking, a perfectly human trait. Maybe
he’s just postponing the inevitable speech he will be called to give in Canton when he’s
inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
Or perhaps he can’t stand golf, the chosen time-filler of so many out-to-pasture players.
Regardless, Brady has no plans to hang up the vaunted number 12 jersey anytime soon.

He’s expressed a desire to play into his mid-40s—a few more trips around the sun, powering
the Patriots deep into the playoffs, that time on the football calendar when he’s at his best.
Recovery Favors Flexibility
Brady is fanatically dedicated to his workouts. During the season, he often arrives at the
Patriots training facility before sunrise. In one legendary tale, former New England safety
Rodney Harrison ventured into the weight room at 6 a.m. only to receive a tongue-in-cheek
“good afternoon” greeting from Brady.
But don’t expect to see Brady powerlifting for hours on end. After 19 years in the NFL, he’s
more concerned with muscle pliability than sheer strength.
The focus on pliability means building muscle flexibility. Brady strives to stay limber and
agile while preventing injury. Pliable muscles are optimized to absorb the impact of the game
and limit damage. It’s an increasingly common practice among NFL players as a “prehab”
method to ward off otherwise injury-inducing hits.
Brady’s apprehension around conventional weight training stems from the dangers of heavily
battered muscles. The constant contractions involved in weightlifting creates muscles that are
short and dense.
Rather, Brady turns to elastic resistance bands, vibrating foam rollers, and massage balls for
pliability training. He also adheres to a strict massage schedule aimed at keeping his muscles
long, soft, and ultimately quicker to recover.
Brady and Alex Guerrero, his personal trainer and frequent collaborator, even authored a
book and documentary detailing the quarterback’s intense training program. Released in
2017, The TB12 Method is part autobiography of a peak performer and part instructional
manual for athletes who want the dish on Brady’s methods.
You could also say The TB12 Method is a mad scientist’s manifesto for the Fountain of
Youth. Just about every conceivable topic of health and wellness is covered, including
strength training, supplementation, hydration, nutrition, cognitive fitness, recovery, and
lifestyle choices. Turns out success for elite athletes is as much mental as it is physical.

Greatness In, Greatness Out
The extent of Brady’s micromanaged lifestyle is further reflected in his diet. It’s rife with all-
natural and whole foods. He avoids nightshades—vegetables like peppers, tomatoes,
mushrooms, and eggplants that pack a bloat risk.
He also hydrates at levels that would make Lake Michigan blush, drinking a confessed 12 to
25 glasses of water a day—about 2.5 gallons of the wet stuff.

Brady also knows what liquids to avoid. He rarely consumes alcohol and claims to have
never tried coffee.
Brady and Guerrero are quick to point out Brady’s training and nutrition routine isn’t for
everyone. It’s a highly customized program built for the specific needs of Brady’s body type
and high-performance condition.
The Smartest Man in Football
Brady’s mental game is perhaps even more remarkable than his physical prowess. Patriots
coach Bill Belichick is on record with the remark that “He’s not a great natural athlete.”
Instead, Brady relies on a strong work ethic, strategic thinking, and an unbreakable focus on
the task at hand to get the best of his opponents.
There’s arguably no one else in sports who has overcome their natural shortcomings so
effectively. Brady’s intelligence allows him to isolate variables of the game and then work
like mad on improving.
As a result, he’s taken his throwing mechanics from average to legendary. He’s learned to
read defenses like a Dr. Seuss book. He finds opportunities to make plays when none seem
possible.
As famed Sports Center anchor Dan Patrick liked to say, “You can’t stop him. You can only
hope to contain him.” The clock isn’t stopping Tom Brady, and it’s barely containing him.
Time and tide will have to wait for this man.

Boston Celtics Jayson Tatum joins Team USA for FIBA World Cup 2019

The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will bring about many surprise appearances (and, sadly, absences, too). The 18th tournament of the Cup will be hosted in China between August 31 and September 15, 2019. In fact, it was supposed to take place in 2018 but it was rescheduled so that it would not occur at the same year as the FIFA World Cup (soccer). The tournament will also be an instance of qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics. So it’s going to be an important moment in basketball history.

Unfortunately, there were good teams, like Great Britain, which did not make it into the World Cup. The USA will be facing China, Spain and France in the first matches. There is a strong chance they will make it to the quarter finals. Dan Routledge, a British basketball commentator with 20 years experience, has expressed his wish for the USA to win the competition. He thinks the American team is a perfect combination of A-class veterans like LeBron James and newcomers like Jayson Tatum. “Together they will be the stars of the tournament”, said Routledge.

The USA team will bring together the best of the NBA. Among them is Jayson Tatum, one of the most talented players right now. As he keeps on being a star on the Celtics in Boston, Tatum will have to face a new challenge: the international stage with the NBA’s elite. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, a sports commentator, Tatum will join the national team in their practice so as to see if he qualifies for the FIBA World Cup later on in September. “He needs to prove he’s got what it takes”, claimed Routledge.

In order to train for such a challenge, Tatum needs to gain power and speed, and to be in his best shape ever. His training programme is not so different from that of other athletes, but in a much more intense manner. Basketball players need to jump higher and run faster. According to fitforbeach.co.uk, the customary training routine for basketball players involves lifting weights, doing some speed and agility work and lots of conditioning.

In the two NBA seasons he has with the Boston Celtics, Tatum has shown signs of being a superstar by making an average of 15 points, 5.5 rebounds and almost 2 assists per game. He also has an average mark of 46% and 40% shooting from the floor and point shooter respectively. And he is no stranger to international prizes as he won gold medals at the 2015 FIBA championship U19, the U17 in 2014, and in the U16 in 2013. He has been team USA ever since.

At the camp in China he will be joined by stars like Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez, James Harden, Eric Gordon, Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Kevin Love, CJ McCollum, Kemba Walker, and Anthony Davis. From this list, Tatum, Kuzma and Mitchell are the youngest (21, 23, and 24 years old).

Though he seems up to the task, Jayson Tatum will have to prove his worth among some of the best players in the NBA and the world. The competition will be hard so this FIBA World Cup promises some unforgettable matches. Let’s see what happens in August during the training sessions and how the countries form their final teams.

Celtics Free Agent Profile: Malcolm Brogdon

The Celtics showed with their NBA Draft class that they were on route to building a young team with raw talent. This inadvertently resulted in the C’s freeing up about $28 million in cap space. The Celtics will most likely look for guys that will fit the timetable of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. This makes Malcolm Brogdon an ideal target for them in Free Agency.

Via slamonline.com

Bio

Malcolm Brogdon is a point guard who stands at 6’5″, 229 pounds. He is 26 years old, and won Rookie of the Year in 2017. He has played most of his career on limited minutes behind Eric Bledsoe, and with injuries he has rarely started games for the Bucks. Brogdon willingly accepted his bench role and did whatever he could do to help his team win. He’ll be a restricted free agent come July, and will garner roughly 10-12M a year. Boston will have more than enough cap space to acquire his services.

Why the Celtics should sign him

The Celtics’ point guard woes are very well documented. Kyrie Irving is set to sign with Brooklyn, and Terry Rozier wants to leave. The Celtics have two rookies at point guard in Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters. Brogdon has played for three years in the league, and at 26 fits the timetable of this young Celtics team. Brogdon defends with every ounce of effort, even though he’s not the best on defense. He’s a good shooter, knows how to utilize his teammates, and responds well to coaching. He is an exceptional athlete, as shown here. Brogdon’s biggest asset may be his low mileage. He averaged 17.4 minutes per game with the Bucks. His light usage means he’ll be more helpful to Boston in the long run. He has no outstanding ego and is typically a ‘team-first’ guy.

Via Sports Illustrated

Will he sign with Boston?

The C’s will make an offer to Brogdon because of need. As a restricted free agent, the Celtics only need worry about the Bucks matching their offer. While Milwaukee has other high-priority free agents, Brogdon is an asset they may want to keep. The high cost of their other stars may mean the Bucks won’t retain him. In conclusion, a 4yr/$12M deal should allow Boston to procure his services and that is something they absolutely should explore.

Patriots training camp starts in a month

Patriots training camp starts soon

The Patriots have had a very different quiet off-season from a year ago. There was no drama this year and no big trades for them. You could say it was quite a boring offseason for the Patriots. Brady skipped OTA’s a second straight season, but that really doesn’t matter when they just won the Super Bowl. The biggest story-line was Rob Gronkowski retiring. Other than that it was quiet for the most part. Training camp starts on July 24th with the first public practice on July 25th. That does seem later than previous seasons.

Tom Brady will be missing Gronk but they’ll be alright

Brady will be missing his favorite tight end this training camp. Benjamin Watson is back but will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season. Also, he has some new receiver talent he’ll have to work with. First-round draft choice N’Keal Harry has already worked out with Brady and Edelman in Montana. Brady’s also working out with Josh Gordon, which is huge as he’ll be an asset when he gets back on the field. Sony Michel should have a good camp, and so should James White.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the draft picks do during training camp. Running back Damien Harris was the 87th pick in the draft and we’ll have to see how he does behind James White and Sony Michel. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham is also looking for a shot at being Tom Brady’s backup and possible successor. The Patriots selected Danny Etling last year in the seventh round and he landed on the practice squad. If Stidham can be the next Garoppolo then they could have their next quarterback when Brady hangs it up at 45.

As the quiet offseason is drawing to a close, the new season kicks off with training camp beginning in a month. It looks like an another Super Bowl is ahead of them as long as Brady and Belichick are around. Get ready for the large crowds, nice weather, and Patriots football beginning at the end of July.

Should the Celtics pursue a reunion with Isaiah Thomas?

With less than a week until the legal tampering period of free agency begins in the NBA, the Celtics have all but sent Kyrie Irving packing from the Auerbach Center. With the anticipated departure of Irving and the potential payday looming for restricted free-agent guard Terry Rozier, the Celtics have been linked to multiple top-tier point guards on the market, namely: Kemba Walker and D’Angelo Russell. While those are the sexy high-profile names that will presumably become available on July 1st, one name in particular that should strike Celtics fans seems to be flying heavily under the radar: Isaiah Thomas.

Approaching the two-year anniversary of the blockbuster trade with Cleveland; Thomas is set to become an unrestricted free agent. Thomas has only appeared in 44 games since the trade due to the well-documented hip injury he suffered in the 2017 playoff run with Celtics. He was benched indefinitely after a brief return with the Denver Nuggets this past season.

Thomas is still searching for the opportunity to re-establish himself as a dominant scorer and an All-Star. Thus, the question: should the Celtics pursue a reunion with Isaiah Thomas?

Re-establishing Culture

Isaiah Thomas celebrating with teammates (Credit: Getty Images)

After a disappointing season full of angst and discord, who better to help re-establish the gritty, chip-on-their-shoulder culture of the Celtics than the player who started it all?

From the moment he arrived in Boston during the 2014-15 season, IT changed the attitude of the team. The Celtics went from the loveable losers with the up and coming coach to never-back-down competitors in the Eastern Conference. It was Thomas’s killer mentality on the floor and his infectious personality off the floor that hastened the team’s planned rebuild faster than Danny Ainge and upper management could have ever imagined.

This type of attitude is what the 2018-2019 Celtics desperately lacked. A leader who demonstrated that type of fire and competitiveness on the floor, but showed composure during difficult times off the court.

Low Risk/High Reward

Thomas is coming off a campaign in which he was paid the veteran’s minimum salary and appeared in only 12 games before being indefinitely benched. This may seem like a deterrent, but let’s not forget that he was recovering from major hip surgery and was thrown into the mix of a team that ultimately threatened the Golden State Warriors for first place in the Western Conference. There is the possibility he never returns to his previous form as a player, and as a result, his current market value is at an all-time low.

For the Celtics, his value is much higher. He’s a player that has proven to fit into the system Brad Stevens has established. He’s beloved by the city of Boston. He was a major piece in recruiting Gordon Hayward and Al Horford during their respective free agencies. He’s established relationships with younger players such as Jaylen Brown, which have proven to not be overly toxic for the team environment. He won’t command maximum salary or contract length in his upcoming contract. Most importantly however, he loves the City of Boston and wanted to be here.

Should the Celtics pursue a reunion with Isaiah Thomas? Indefinitely, yes.
