What would a Tom Brady Podcast be like?

Imagine a Tom Brady Podcast

Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time, there’s no question about that. But imagine if he had a podcast, what would it be like? What kind of guests would he have on besides the obvious people like Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Bill Belichick. Even the Krafts are an obvious guest on his podcast. It would be the most downloaded podcast in the U.S., beating all the rest. What would they talk about? Football, the TB12 Method, being 41 and feeling like 25? All those and more topics would be interesting.

A Tom Brady Podcast full of Guests

Brady would, of course, keep the podcast classy but also hopefully give an inside scoop of the Patriots locker room and balancing family with football. We saw that during his Tom Vs. Time documentary on Facebook Watch how he did that, but that was only a snippet. The guests he would have on from former players and coaches to current players and coaches would be really cool. Even some Hall Of Fame players too. What would really be cool is if he had Joe Montana on it since that was who Brady looked up too.

Brady has done so much in his career that if he ever did his podcast at a charity event to raise money, tickets would be sold out in a matter of minutes. He could also have different athletes from this city on his podcast like Red Sox legend David Ortiz. Now that would be epic and Boston Sports porn! Brady would not only win on the football field, he would win on the airwaves too.

Finally, the fans could call in maybe and submit questions to the show. He could answer as many as he could. Overall a Tom Brady podcast would be out this world, and a great post-career move decision on his part.

The Men Behind Some Of Tom Brady’s Firsts

It is easy to talk about the Tom Brady that everyone knows now. The records have all been set and more remain within reach, but at one time, Brady was not a record holder. Brady was not arguably the greatest in the world.

In 2001, Brady stepped into the starting quarterback spot for the Patriots after Drew Bledsoe was injured during a week two matchup against the Jets. The young quarterback was just given an opportunity to make a name for himself in the league.

Most know the story of Brady’s rise to football stardom, but many do not some of the people that were first to contribute or try to get in the way of it.

First Touchdown Pass: Terry Glenn, Wide Receiver

Week 5, 2001

Tom Brady and Terry Glenn, coming from opposing Big Ten schools, came together to help lift the Patriots out of a 1-3 start to the season. The pair had an unusual beginning to their season before that play. Glenn came off the bench from a four-game substance-abuse suspension. And Brady, well, everyone knows how that story goes. In this game, Glenn caught a 21-yard pass to record Brady’s first touchdown pass.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Gleen played at home for The Ohio State Buckeyes. The walk-on received the Biletnikoff Award for being one of the top college receivers. He was the Patriots seventh pick in the first round of the 1996 draft. Once in the league, he played 11 seasons for the Patriots, Packers, and Cowboys.

The wide receiver had a troubled personal life outside of football. He often found himself in trouble with the law, issues spawning from domestic violence to public intoxication and auto theft. Glenn’s life came to a tragic end in 2017 at age 43 in a rollover car accident. He left behind children and a fiance, who was injured in the accident.

First Sack: Brad Scioli, Defensive End

Week 6, 2001

Another first, another former Big Ten player. Scioli was in his third season with the Colts. The defensive end was up against a young, seemingly unknown quarterback who just stepped into the position. And when it was time to make a big play, it was Scioli that got that first sack.

Originally from Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, Scioli stayed in-state to play at the college level, playing for a tough Penn State program headed by Joe Paterno. He finished his degree in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management and was then drafted in the fifth round by the Colts in 1999. His NFL career was spent in Indianapolis before injuries forced his retirement in 2004.

Following his exit from the league, Scioli went into teaching. He received a teaching certification from West Chester University and received a master’s from Wilkes University. Eventually, Scioli moved back home and is now working for the Upper Merion Area School District.

First Interception: Denard Walker, Safety

Week 6, 2001

This 2001 Patriots team was on the edge of turning their season around, and up next on their to-do list was Denver. While the Patriots maintained a lead to start the game, the Broncos won it in a strong second-half effort. Many big plays helped the mile-high team secure their comeback, including the play made by Walker, causing Brady’s first interception of his career.

Denard Walker was born in Dallas Texas and attended LSU. He was drafted in the third round of the 1997 NFL draft to the Tennessee Oilers and was with the team as they became the Tennessee Titans. Walker bounced from the Titans to the Broncos, next to the Vikings and ended his career with the Raiders in 2005.

Patriots will not be visiting White House

Patriots won’t be visiting White House to Celebrate Sixth Super Bowl win

USA Today

The Patriots will not be visiting the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. They have gone to the White House in the past to celebrate their Super Bowl wins, but not this time. It sounds like they don’t have the time to head there this year, between off-season activities and training camp starting soon it’s time to turn the page on last season. It’s also not getting any media attention that they aren’t going because the Patriots have been before with President Trump in office. The Patriots have gone to the White House five other times, and all early in the off-season.

They simply don’t have the time

The relationship between the President and Robert Kraft doesn’t matter, all that matters is winning football games and championships. There is also controversy when certain players don’t go which is what they are avoiding it too. Tom Brady didn’t go the last time and it was probably smart because people would just start talking nonsense.

The President’s relationship with the owner shouldn’t be a big deal. Who Robert Kraft is friends with has nothing to do with football or the production on the field. That goes for everyone else on the team too, including Belichick. They never let any distractions take away from their goals of winning.

Overall it has been very slow past few months for the Patriots. Between OTA’s, the Israel trip, and training camp starting soon there’s not enough time to visit the White House again. It also keeps the NFL out of the political spotlight if the Patriots don’t attend, which is a good thing. A scheduling issue as a reason is a lot better than a team not going for political reasons.

The Brady Difference

The best way to succeed in life is through hard work and determination. The Brady difference as I like to call it, is what sets him apart from any other QB in the NFL. Brady’s quickly approaching his 42nd birthday in August, but if you didn’t know this you’d think he was in his 30’s.

Brady’s Training like A Mad Man

https://twitter.com/patsnationtm/status/1147250290028138497?s=21
This is from Tom v Time

The soon to be 42 year old will do anything it takes to improve his game. He’s looking faster and stronger in 2019 which shows his dedication and commitment. His critics will say he doesn’t have a strong arm, one even going as far to call it a wet noodle. Hi Max! Brady took to his Instagram account to fire back at the known troll.

The Caption Brady had on his post read, “He’s gonna fall off a Cliff” along with ? ? emojis.

It’s safe to say he’s still using everything negative he’s ever heard as fuel to his fire. The Brady difference at its finest.

Tom Brady’s Leadership is Incredible like usual

After winning a Super Bowl as a 41 year old, Tom is showing everyone what a true leader looks like. Josh Gordon is trying to get back on the field in time for training camp. Brady wanted to make sure he knew the team still has his back and got him to come out and throw the ball around.

“Brady to Gordon”
Hoping to hear that all season
Brady isn’t just having Gordon catching footballs. The two have been going out to dinner and spending time together like true friends.

Gordon isn’t the only player Brady’s been working out with, his pal Edelman has been catching passes with other teammates. Baron Davis was spotted with Brady too, and he’s got great hands according to Tom.

Tom’s not just doing all of these things for fun either. He wouldn’t admit it but he wants the Patriots to break the tie with Pittsburgh for SB wins. Great leaders don’t care about personal achievements. For Brady it doesn’t matter what his stats are as long as the Patriots get the win.

Brady doesn’t pad his stats and will gladly hand the ball off at the 5 yard line. After Brady’s incredible throw to Gronk in the Super Bowl to get to the 5 yard line he did the smart thing and handed it off. Most QBs would want that TD pass, that’s the difference. “The Brady Difference.”

Patriots training camp starts in a month

Patriots training camp starts soon

The Patriots have had a very different quiet off-season from a year ago. There was no drama this year and no big trades for them. You could say it was quite a boring offseason for the Patriots. Brady skipped OTA’s a second straight season, but that really doesn’t matter when they just won the Super Bowl. The biggest story-line was Rob Gronkowski retiring. Other than that it was quiet for the most part. Training camp starts on July 24th with the first public practice on July 25th. That does seem later than previous seasons.

Tom Brady will be missing Gronk but they’ll be alright

Brady will be missing his favorite tight end this training camp. Benjamin Watson is back but will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season. Also, he has some new receiver talent he’ll have to work with. First-round draft choice N’Keal Harry has already worked out with Brady and Edelman in Montana. Brady’s also working out with Josh Gordon, which is huge as he’ll be an asset when he gets back on the field. Sony Michel should have a good camp, and so should James White.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the draft picks do during training camp. Running back Damien Harris was the 87th pick in the draft and we’ll have to see how he does behind James White and Sony Michel. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham is also looking for a shot at being Tom Brady’s backup and possible successor. The Patriots selected Danny Etling last year in the seventh round and he landed on the practice squad. If Stidham can be the next Garoppolo then they could have their next quarterback when Brady hangs it up at 45.

As the quiet offseason is drawing to a close, the new season kicks off with training camp beginning in a month. It looks like an another Super Bowl is ahead of them as long as Brady and Belichick are around. Get ready for the large crowds, nice weather, and Patriots football beginning at the end of July.

Will Tom Brady get a contract extension?

Tom Brady’s contract ends after 2019

Tom Brady’s contract ends after the 2019 season. He has repeatedly stated that he wants to play until he’s 45 years old. He wouldn’t talk about his contract last week during minicamp, telling reporters that it was none of their business about his contract. There’s no way he will finish his career with another team, but he may be on a year to year basis with the Patriots after this season. This could be betting on the winner of the NFL future, World Series or College Football Chamionship before the season starts. He’s obviously gone above and beyond for this team and exceeded expectations. He’s coming off his sixth Super Bowl victory and looking for his seventh this upcoming season.

Brady will play until 45 years old

Brady is the best at working with less talent. He makes an average receiver a superstar on the Patriots if he and the receiver have a good connection. We’ve seen that time and time again. He’s also a great teammate and knows what’s best for himself and the team to be successful. I really don’t see him retiring after this season or next. Brady is the only player that is bigger than the team and he’s earned that title.

He wants to keep his contract private between him and the team which is a good thing. I really don’t think he’ll get a five – year deal, but maybe two or three-years. He turns 42 in August so if they come up with a three-year deal then he’ll be 45 when his contract is up. At that point who knows, he could have one or two more Super Bowls under his belt. There is no question he’s the greatest quarterback of all time based on his numbers, championship appearances, and Super Bowls. There’s no other quarterback Belichick would want to have than Tom Brady.

Gronkowski Still has ‘The Itch’

Rob Gronkowski held his 7th annual Citi, Pro Camp for kids. Helping the Boston food bank along with the kids who all brought food for a great cause.

Gronk was his usual happy self on the first day of his camp this year. The future HOF TE was running around playing quarterback, catching passes and teaching kids the importance of teamwork. He’s a great role model and it showed all day.

Everyone Including 800 Children had the same question for Gronk

https://twitter.com/boston_sports18/status/1138166870027177984?s=21

The Patriots could surely use his services on the football field, but for now he is enjoying retirement. Rob is helping out in the community like he’s always done in the past.

This year the whole Gronkowski gang was out participating and having a blast. The event along with the kids brought in over 6,500 food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank.

The greatest TE I’ve ever seen is just as clutch when it comes to the community as his catches were this postseason and Super Bowl.

Gronkowski could potentially come back to the Patriots at some point this upcoming season. The decision will probably be unexpected and a surprise.

The TE had one amazing surprise for two of the Pro Camp participants, what a class act.

https://twitter.com/boston_sports18/status/1137434664975704064?s=21

Gronkowski always knows how to make someone smile, whether he’s off the field continuing his charities, or suiting up for the Patriots at some point in 2019.

The decision to retire is respected by everyone, but some of his ex teammates said they know he can still play and wouldn’t be surprised by a return. Gronk is going to be Gronk whatever he decides to do, he’s a Champion on and off the field.

Thank you to the Gronkowski’s, Rob in particular and everyone involved in a winning Saturday.

The end of a great day

The Patriots back at minicamp

The Patriots take the field

The Patriots started mandatory minicamp this week. Quarterback Tom Brady took the field once again as he turns 42 in August. Brady didn’t take part in OTA’s for the second straight season, but worked out with a few receivers and by himself to prepare for minicamp. Tom Brady looked sharp and hasn’t looked like he’s missed a step. Brady has already worked with N’Keal Harry and Julian Edelman at his home, but it’ll be interesting to see how they connect as offseason workouts go on.

They have some work to do at the Tight End position

With Rob Gronkowski retired and Austin-Seferian Jenkins released their tight end position is thin. Benjamin Watson is also suspended for the first four games of the season. When Watson does comeback though, hopefully the chemistry between him and Brady is pretty solid and he can get some good production. They’ll also miss Gronkowski’s blocking. He was such a big guy to have block when running backs or receivers were headed his way with the ball.

The Patriots secondary is also pretty solid. Lots of leadership between Patrick Chung, Stephon Gilmore, and the Mc.Courty brothers. That defense helped the Patriots win their sixth Super Bowl in February. They also have Michael Bennett, who can help as a pass rusher. Bennett had nine sacks last season, and hoping to have more this season. He is very open to the media, which is non Patriot like, so we’ll see what happens if the Patriots turn him around. If he wants to win he’ll just listen and say what he’s told to say.

Before you know it training camp will be starting and it will be August. The Patriots really have everything going for them heading into the season. They are coming off another Super Bowl victory and get their rings on Thursday night. It should be a fun year with the chance at another Super Bowl run.

What The Patriots Have Invested At Quarterback Entering 2019

The New England Patriots’ quarterback room nears the summer break with two locks.

One of those locks is coming off his sixth Super Bowl victory and is scheduled to carry a cap number of $27 million into the final year of his contract with a base salary of $14 million. As for the other lock? That’d be the 11th QB New England has selected since Bill Belichick returned to the war room as head coach in 2000.

Tom Brady and Jarrett Stidham are eras apart. Now they find themselves in the same one.

Both will celebrate birthdays this August, with the former turning 42 and the latter turning 23. Both will be on the active roster this September, with Brady entering his 20th NFL season and Stidham entering his first. But for every commonality there is a contrast. Be it pre-star or five-star recruit. Be it Michigan or Auburn product. Be it No. 199 or No. 133 overall draft pick.

Time will tell whether there is company.

New England has entrusted a rookie as Brady’s lone understudy twice over the past decade. In 2009, Michigan State undrafted free agent Brian Hoyer found himself the second and final quarterback on the roster. And in 2014, Eastern Illinois second-round pick Jimmy Garoppolo became the next following Ryan Mallett’s trade to the Houston Texans on cutdown day.

It’s possible such a scenario could play out again.

Hoyer, who has been around the league and back, will have to put his experience above Stidham’s projection. But the Patriots have shown confidence in numbers when it comes to the 33-year-old Hoyer. He has an upcoming base salary of $2.8 million, a cap number of $3 million and $1.5 million guaranteed remaining on his deal.

That reflects the strong roster outlook of a veteran backup who has started 36 career games. Hoyer has appeared in 10 games since returning to Patriots in the fall of 2017, and gone 5-of-8 passing for 49 yards with 15 kneel-downs in the process.

Five things to watch at minicamp

The Patriots will kick off their mandatory three-day minicamp on Tuesday, giving us our first extended look at the 2019 version of the team. It should provide an opportunity to see Tom Brady for the first time this spring, as well as newcomer Michael Bennett and perhaps some others who have yet to make an appearance.

While the only difference between minicamp and the OTA session the media was invited to watch two weeks ago is the mandatory element, the non-padded practices do provide an opportunity to start assessing the potential depth chart and to watch the younger players operate in the Patriots system.

With no contact it’s difficult to judge performance – and Bill Belichick often cautions against doing that anyway as he views these workouts as instructional and not for evaluations. But three days of work, plus an additional OTA practice open to the media next week, will provide a glimpse of what we’ll see come the opening of training camp in late July.

Until then, here are five things we’ll be focusing on this week.

Brady’s presence – Assuming Brady will be back in the fold, it’s always news when the quarterback is involved. For the second straight spring he’s chosen to do his prep work on his own, which is unfortunate because it would be great to watch Brady work with rookie first-round pick N’Keal Harry a bit more extensively. Still, there should be some chances for the two to connect this week and we’ll likely hear from Brady at some point as well.

Finding Wynn – So far we’ve had just one chance to watch practice (May 23) and Isaiah Wynn was not present. Instead we saw left guard Joe Thuney man the left tackle spot in place of the departed Trent Brown. Wynn continues to recover from a torn Achilles that wiped out his rookie season and offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia said several weeks ago that he hadn’t yet been cleared for full on-field work. Although it’s not with pads, it would be nice to see Wynn in uniform and working his way back into form. If not, it will be worth watching to see if Thuney remains at left tackle, a position he played at a high level while earning All-ACC honors at N.C. State.

Crowded secondary – Joejuan Williams was drafted in the second round, one year after Duke Dawson was taken in the same round. The two corners join J.C. Jackson, Jason McCourty, Jonathan Jones and Keion Crossen in a fight for playing time with No. 1 corner Stephon Gilmore. Williams’ size is intriguing as a potential matchup weapon for Belichick, who could use a rotation of corners depending on a specific opponent from week to week. Williams should get a lot of chances to lock horns with Harry in a battle of tall, physical performers. We’ll be watching those closely.

Tight quarters – The tight end position is arguably the one that has drawn the most concern among Patriots fans this offseason following Rob Gronkowski’s retirement. The former All-Pro added a measure of finality to that over the weekend when he told reporters that rumors of a possible return could be put to rest. Whether that ultimately is true or not, it’s time to figure out how the position might look without him. Benjamin Watson will miss the first four games while serving a suspension for PED use, and we’ve yet to see veteran free agent addition Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Matt LaCosse looked like a candidate to fill a pass-catching role a couple of weeks ago, albeit in shorts under far-less-than-competitive circumstances. LaCosse moves well and it will be interesting to see what if any work he gets to do with Brady.

Bennett Brothers 2.0 – Michael Bennett has yet to make an appearance during practice but is expected to be in Foxborough this week. He ostensibly replaces Trey Flowers, and while at 33 he may not be able to handle the full workload, he possesses more explosiveness as a pass rusher. Again, shorts and T-shirts work will only tell so much but Bennett is an interesting character very much in the mold of his brother Martellus, who had a couple of stints as a Patriot. Bennett will be worth a look as well as a listen.
