What’s Wrong With The Patriots?

The Patriots Are 4-2 The New England Patriots are 4-2 and atop the AFC East. But they don’t play like a Super Bowl winning team right now.  Why? Because the new guys think they can just walk in and think they’ll just win a Super Bowl?  With Tom Brady and Belichick here we should be fine? It’s okay for the media to say that, but as a player, you can’t think that way or you’ll be out. The defense can’t give up 300-plus yards a game as they have done. The defense ranks last in the league. With Stephon...

Boston Red Sox Season in Review

Boston Red Sox Season In Review The 2017 Boston Red Sox season had a lot of ups and downs. A 93-69 season. The Red Sox acquired Chris Sale, the pitcher they needed at the top of their rotation. Lingering questions burned about David Price, and his spat with Dennis Eckersley and the media only added more fuel throughout the season. The ‘little leader’ Dustin Pedroia, batted just .204 in his last 26 postseason games. The Red Sox starting pitching in four ALDS games pitched 11.1 innings, gave up 23 hits, 16 ER, 6 HR. ERA: 12.70. Red Sox Are About To Get Swept

Red Sox About To Get Swept Again The Boston Red Sox face another swept for the second year in a row in the ALDS. Chris Sale, allegedly the ace, pitched game one.  He hadn’t pitched a postseason game befor, but he should have been fine, right? Wrong! He pitched five innings, gave up nine hits, seven runs, three home runs and had an ERA of 12.60. Some Red Sox fans need to wake up.   Winning the American League East means nothing if you can’t make it past the first round of the playoffs. Red Sox in the Playoffs —...

New England Patriots Split Month One — 2-2

Patriots Are 2-2 The New England Patriots are 2-2 for the first time since the 2014 NFL Season. We all know what happened they ended up winning the Super Bowl. You would think with the latest additions in the offseason they wouldn’t be 2-2. The Patriots almost lost to Houston at home if it wasn’t for Tom Brady saving the day. He can only do so much though.  The defense has to step it up. That win against the Houston Texans was a win because Tom Brady went down the field scored  and he had the ball last. Sunday...

Chris Sale gets the start on Thursday, without a good September to close the regular season. The Red Sox clinched the division Saturday and celebrated in the clubhouse,  but they still need 11 more wins. Can They Win the American League East? Red Sox Backing Into The Playoffs

Red Sox Backing Into The Playoffs With the regular season coming to a close and the playoffs starting, it seems the Boston Red Sox are backing into the postseason just like last year. Last season the Red Sox won the division with a loss to the Yankees but still wearing goggles and drinking champagne in the clubhouse. The Red Sox play the Astros today and tomorrow to close out the regular season. They have lost four of their last five games and lead the division by two games. With a Red Sox win or a  Yankees loss they would...

Drew Pomeranz Has a Rough Start

The Boston Red Sox opened up a series against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night.  Drew Pomeranz got the start and pitched completely opposite of what he’s been doing all season. Going into the game he was 16-5 and looking for his 17th win of  the season.  Pomeranz would give up five runs and only last two innings before being taken out in the third.  He gave up seven hits, five runs, one walk, and one home run. The home run came in the first inning by Josh Donaldson hitting the ball to center field.  Austin Maddox, Blanie Boyer,...

Patriots: On To New Orleans

After the Patriots got their wake up Thursday night against Kansas City, it’s on to New Orleans to play the Saints on Sunday. The Patriots appeared lost on offense, defense, and special teams. It was unusual for the Patriots to have a distraction get in the way. Too much play, not enough work? What was the distraction? The banner ceremony for one.  But Brady and Bill have all the answers, right?  Some players might think that this game was going to be a cakewalk but that certainly didn’t happen. Like Belichick said,  “Last year was last year. This is...

This season is a bit different though, as the Patriots will drop their fifth Super Bowl banner Thursday night against Kansas City. Coach Belichick has moved on from Super Bowl LI, but In honor of the fifth Super Bowl Banner, let’s rank them. 5. Super Bowl XXXIX Embed from Getty Images My fifth-best Super Bowl is Super Bowl XXXIX. Patriots vs Chiefs Preview

Embed from Getty Images We are hours away from the Opening Night in the NFL. The Patriots will reveal  their fifth Super Bowl Banner then it’s game time against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots are 13-17 overall against the Chiefs, but this year is a little different. The Patriots are stacked even with Julian Edelman out for the year. Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola, a healthy Rob Gronkowski,  and newly acquired Phillip Dorsett. Kansas City doesn’t really have a standout player other than Tyrek Hill, they’re wide receiver. If you look at the Coaches Andy Reid, and Bill Belichick...

It’s September 1st Red Sox Final Stretch of the Regular Season Begins

It’s September 1st which means summer is over, it’s football season, and the weather changes. It also means  we are pretty much in the final month of the Red Sox season. For some fans it’s a worrisome time, and for some it’s when do the playoffs start? The Red Sox have a rocky history in September we all remember the September collapse in 2011 that lead to Terry Francona’s firing. Could the same happen this season? The answer to that question is I don’t know, you really never know with this team. This series with the Yankees is a...

Brady Is Immortal: The Madden Curse Falls on Brady’s Favorite Reciever

When it came out back in May that Tom Brady would grace this year’s cover of Madden 18, the announcement met with a mix of support and outrage. The dreaded “Madden Curse.” Some, including Brady, say there’s no such thing as curses. Others said that he shouldn’t be on the cover. It will destroy his season. Who, can forget when Rob Gronkowski was the cover boy last year, then sidelined for the season.? Now, Julian Edelman, Tom Brady’s best friend and most trusted receiver, done for the season with a torn ACL. You can argue about whether starters should...

Red Sox Have a Rough Weekend

The Red Sox entered the series with the Baltimore Orioles sitting on a 4.5 game division lead on Friday.  But the starting pitchers took a beating all weekend, barely getting an out. The schedule won’t get any easier, with the Blue Jays Monday through Wednesday, then off to New York for a four-game series beginning Thursday. Mauled on the mound Friday night Rick Porcello pitched only 4.2 innings, gaving up nine hits, four runs, and four strikeouts in the 16-3 loss. Saturday, Eduardo Rodriguez pitched, showing no improvement as they fell behind early, again. Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a five-run...

Should Starters Play in Preseason Games?

Friday night in Detroit the New England Patriots faced off against the Lions, the third preseason game for the Patriots. The starters took the field in the first quarter and completely burned the Detroit defense. But the excitement of watching the points pile up ended abruptly in the worst possible way. Julian Edelman.  Down on the field.  Not springing up and running into the huddle.  Out came the injury cart.  And down dropped the hearts, if not hopes, of Patriot Nation.  On the following day, the worst fears revealed on an MRI.  A torn ACL, ending the 2017 regular...

Where is David Price?

Since David Price went on the DL, the $31M dollar pitcher has had very little to say. The Red Sox have played well and still hold first place in the Division. But where is David Price? When will he come back? The Red Sox need Price back because when he gets into a groove he can be unstoppable. But lately, the only ace I can see on this team is Chris Sale. The guy pitches with the  attitude of a winner.  Just what the Red Sox needed. Cheese with that whine? Price  has whined, complained, and hauled off on...

Can We Leave Politics Out Of Sports?

When people go to any sporting event in this case baseball, it’s a time when people come together to watch their team play and win. It’s a time during the game when the politics should stop and it’s all about cheering for your team. In this case players that go to Red Sox games from opposing teams some say they have heard racial slurs. It’s not right but doesn’t make the City of Boston racist cause of some stupid fan. In regards to John Henry’s comments about the “Yawkey Way” sign, if your going to replace it in my...

Dombrowski Traded The Right Prospect

Last year when Dave Dombrowski called up Andrew Benintendi and Yoan Moncada right before the trade deadline, it was pretty much a trial period for those two players. Benintendi came  up to the Majors and he shined, with a .295 batting average, 44 RBI, and eight home runs. He continues to produce this year:  .278 average, 17 home runs, and 67 RBI. Moncada whiffs Yoan Moncada, however, did not produce well last year when he got his chance. He produced a .211 average, zero home runs, and 1 RBI. So during the off-season President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski,...

Red Sox, Yankees Rivalry is Back

The Red Sox and Yankees went head to head this weekend, firing up a long-standing rivalry. Maybe not as intense as the 2003-2004 season with Varitek, Jeter, Pedroia and A-Rod.  But as we come to the last two months of the regular season, the AL East is closing in on the Red Sox and Yankees for the number-one spot in the divison. Season Finale Heating Up The Red Sox had Eduardo Rodriguez going Friday, Drew Pomeranz Saturday, and Chris Sale Sunday. Notice no David Price pitching in this series.  That’s how big it is.  The Red Sox took two...

Should Chris Sale Get The AL MVP Award?

With all the Red Sox drama surrounding David Price, nobody has really talked about the domination of their real ace, Chris Sale. The last pitcher to win the AL MVP award was Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander in 2011.  Clayton Kershaw clinched the overall MLB MVP in 2014 with the Dodgers, the last pitcher to do so. You get what you trade for Chris Sale has a 2.57 ERA this season, currently 14-4.  The Red Sox bats really come alive when he pitches, and they score runs. When Dave Dombrowski traded for him in the off season, Sales has proved the...
